Futuristic Google Device

Filed under: IT — 200702 at 5:42 am on Sunday, February 24, 2008

If you don’t know what Google could do in the future life, you should check out this concept design.

This design is shaped like a normal frame. However it is a portable Google device which could search information based on real objects. Just frame the aimed object, such as one strange building, in the device, it could get and display information on the transparent multi-touch screen. If you need any detailed data, just target the picture like iPhone. Moreover, it could also be used to search words while reading and provide the GPS information for traveling.

Wow, you’re surprised? I believe that all the description will come true IN THE FUTURE.

Designer: Mac Funamizu

Although very cool, I don’t see how this could ever be possible.

god damn i hate these stupid “concept” things. anybody can model a plain white object and say it will do something impressive.
also, you can hardly say Mac Funamizu designed it. Its a square white object!
I wish i’d stop stumbling stuff like this.

I really admire the new concept. Make it possible. I will, myself like to own such a Object of Utility.

Excellent

This concept design is interesting and exciting, and certainly shows the potential of a networked device. However, I don’t see the future being an independent device built for only one function. Rather something more like the current mobile phones and PDA’s that contain a full suite of mobile interaction.

I’m not entirely sure of what the technology is named, but I know I’ve already seen the ability to take a photograph with a mobile phone, submit the image to a central server, then receive a reply with more information - be it a product, service, event, etc.

Certainly this is a more basic development - it will be interesting to see how immediate access to a world of knowledge - from anywhere - will affect life as we know it!

Really a cool idea!

But let’s talk about the feature in picture #2. You point on a window and it shows you, who is in that flat or office.

That goes a little bit too far in respect to privacy, so I would limit that function. It’s does not show you any tenants of an apartment. Only those you have typed in, becasue you are searching for them. Like with a phonebook. You look up a name, but it does not list all phone numbers in a particular building for you.

In terms of a revenue potential for Google. They actually could require you sign up for a small fee. Wouldn’t be offices interested to be found easier? If it remains a free service, they definitley must not show anyone, who has not signed up for the service (even, if it’s free).

Anyway, your glassplate type of ‘thing’ is a really cool user interface. I could get used to something like that.

@Osama
The reason you don’t see how that’s possible is cause you live today and not tomorrow. People in the 1700s never knew a tv could be possible, but here it is

Look, bright ideas people, make a working prototype and then patent it. If it doesn’t work, it is not ‘your’ idea, it is just photoshop. Not worth a stumble.

This would be neat. I can’t see it being real because i can’t see google investing that much in the near future on something that new ^^’.

Of course its possible to do it are you kidding me lol?; all it would be is a camera and a crappy computer to display it and get your input and stuff. All the thinking could be done by google easily and quickly the way they already handle all their searching. I just can’t see it happening right away (atleast outside of the US) look at google maps street view thing.

This can be cool when it will be in Glasses and not holding it manually.

I dont see the need for this one yet, the information presented with this one is already easily accessed from Iphone for example, and i dont think that this interface is easier to use or anything else, again, this will be cool when implemented with glasses…

Cool concept. some may not be possible but the text/high lite with word pronunciation, etc would be possible with scanners/OCR character recognition and a transparent video screen.

It is fun looking at these prediction things. More fun is looking back through history books to what people thought the future would hold (and see how far off or close they were).

Very interesting, and very possible. Just another use of camera/GPS technology - if the Japanese can do it with their phones, then why can’t this happen?

actually the concept of this is doable, what it would do, is use a combination of gps, optical senors, image library, and picture/word recognition software to produce the result, already google is index the world wide web library of images, text, articles, and such things, so while at first like all new things it would be limited and probably not as sleek at what you see there, it could turn into a reality. already both the military and nasa are working with similar projects. Google with its ability to have the funding and the lack of government watching its every move, which are the problems of the military and nasa, it has a better chance of producing it faster
