Berlin might get The Berg

2009112029

According to ‘The Berg’ website, Berliners are getting down to considering creating a man-made mountain in Berlin, as another tourist-attracting option. Proposed by the German architect Jakob Tigges, the largest man-made mountain will be 1000m tall, and covered with snow on its peak for at least half the year. If that finally come true, a range of activities like skiing, hang-gliding and rock climbing would be available to the Berlins, rightly inside their city. But is the mountain just a hoax or a real opportunity? We may keep a watch on ‘The Berg’ website to find the answer. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Welcome to Seoul and take a walk on the bridge installed with Wind Lamps. Conceived by the designer Kyung Kuk Kim, Wind Lamp is built with LEDs and powered by a specialized wind-harnessing generator that also powers other street lamps. I must say, it’s really a good piece of work, which beautifies the river and the city in an eco-friendly way. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Dancepants Kinetic Music Player

2009112301

If I were you, I would feel hesitant to wear the Dancepants Kinetic Music Player. Not that it’s heavy or ugly, but you have to keep in motion to have the MP3 player work. In other words, the player is powered by the kinetic energy generated during your motion, and the farer you run, the longer the player works. Then, how long will you wish it to work? e-Pressed Shirt has come to indicate stress

2009112302

We’ve seen pretty high-tech clothes in our day, like the ‘Protective Coat’ if you remember, but few are as utilitarian as this. Using a new clothing technology called as e-Press, the shirt is built with bio sensors to check out the wearer’s stress levels in different parts including the chest, the back and both shoulders. If stress levels are high, the bio sensors will send signals to corresponding LEDs, which will then indicate that by blinking fast. On the contrary, if those parts are given a massage, the LEDs will blink slowly as the stress levels go down.

Hanging Brush

2009112304

Though anyone who has bought a can of paint knows that he/she can hang the painting brush on the can’s edge, how could that really happen? I mean there’s no hook on either the brush or the can. But finally, they make it, by carving a hook in a paint brush. Interesting idea! [Read the rest of this entry...]

2009112307

What does ‘grown-up’ mean to you? Yes, we’ve depicted a picture about the days about ‘grown-up’ ever since we were still a little child. And to boys, wine and cigarette are indispensable parts of a grown-up. But what do we really feel after we grow up? May you admit it or not, we miss the childhood a lot and we do almost everything to go back to those days. That’s why the Robot Wine Rack is brought to us. With a mustache, it’s Mr. Robot, while without that, it’s the naughty boy Robot. Superb! [Read the rest of this entry...]

Insbot, a capable assistant of doctors

2009070823

Researchers from Israel have developed the mini robot that is expected to be widely used in the medical field. Measuring merely 1mm, the robot could move inside vessels (at a speed of 9mm per second) to deal with the clogging artery and inject some drug. And all its actions are controlled by the extracorporeal magnetic field, which means a real-time manipulation and a safety operation. Until now, scientists are still concentrating efforts on advancing the maneuverability of the robot, equipping it with a camera, for example.

Embed a watch in the skin

2009071302

Wow, so awesome! Traditionally, you wear a watch, but now you…support a watch. Embedded in your skin, the watch is powered by the biological energy, and that’s why I mean you support a watch. If you’d like to reset the time, you firstly have to connect the watch to other external devices, in a wireless way of course. Moreover, the watch won’t appear unless you flex your wrist. Pity it’s just a concept watch at present. Could anyone develop a real one? Let me know.
