We’ve all encountered the frustration of forgetting to take away our watches before, especially when we hurry off to work in the morning. So what if we could pin them on a tie, a pocket or even our hair? Then we would wear them and check the time in a more convenient way, as simple as you use a tie clip. Tio Light Switch

2009111718

Kids are frequently blamed for leaving lights on, but to be fair, it is because they seldom notice lamps and switches. The Tio Light Switch may be a nice gadget to remind kids of conserving energy, with a visual change in different colors. When the light is kept on for less than an hour, it grows green; after four hours, it goes yellow. And when it has been on for more than eight hours, guess what, an angry red then appears. Hopefully by this means, your kids will constantly turn lights off, therefore helping to cut down the power consumption. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Solar Roadway

2009090101

The Solar Roadway is new replacement to current petroleum-based asphalt roads. It is constructed with a series of solar panels, each individual one comprising three parts (a road surface layer, an electronics layer and a base plate layer). Solar energy collected by these solar road panels, Scott Brusaw claimed, would meet a whole country’s basic electricity needs. And the first roadway (30cm thick, generating 7.6kwh of electricity per day) has been developed successfully, though at a high cost of up to 6900 dollars.

A Lamppost Powered by Trash

2009111632

A lamppost powered by trash? Well, I have to say that it’s really a considerable progress in developing natural energy-powered and environment-friendly lamps. Doubling as a trash bin, the lamppost then uses the methane, a byproduct of trash, as a fuel to power the lamps. Really ingenious idea! [Read the rest of this entry...]
