I think the point here was that it works on "endangered animals" such as panthers, as an example. Picking apart whether or not their example is an animal in danger of becoming extinct or not has nothing to do with the product and it's potential to save lives. I live in an area where moose-car collisions end tragically for both moose and people. These devices would save lives and are probably cheaper than the 20' tall chain-link animal fencing lining our highways. On top of that cougars are classified as Least Concern. Not to say you shouldn't feel bad about killing a cougar, but that you honestly shouldn't worry too much for the species as a whole if on average the car-to-cougar death rate is less then one cougar per year.
