Neil Dawson’s ‘Horizons’

20100219701

Hopefully you didn’t take it as a photoshoped picture, because the huge piece of handkerchief was for real found on a private art park “The Farm” located in New Zealand. According to the park’s owner Alan Gibbs, the astonishing handkerchief—though looks coming from the Cartoon World —is actually a unique sculpture made of welded steel by Neil Dawson. Impressive work! The Transforming Candle was invented as a result of the idea to utilize temperature-sensitive material. Some beautifully ornate patterns will appear on the black glass holder when the candle is lit. Simple but romantic idea. [Read the rest of this entry...]

‘Help Lock’ for Bathroom Doors

20100219301

The ‘Help Lock Doorknob’ by Haishan Deng is designed for ensuring an instant rescue if you stay in the room for too long a time. ‘Help Lock’ asks the users to pre-program a phone number and a time limit the first time you activate it. Once the time runs out, the doorknob will sound for 30 seconds to warn you to get out of the room. But if you don’t switch off the first alarm, the device will then call to the programmed number and open the door automatically for the help. Such a device could be quite ideal for those living with the disabled or elderly folks, who are easier to get hurt when bathing alone. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Leak the energy before you conserve it? Crazy!

20100219201

Flattery must have gotten you everywhere Mr. Lufdesign and I’d like to describe your concept as ‘a stylish cord that lets us see the electricity leaking’. The product is meant for warning the users to pull out the plugs so as to reduce the power waste, through a visible and direct way. Named as “ECord”, the design mainly attributes to the PVC covering that changes colors when a specific range of current (from 1 to 15W) is provided. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Leaky Goblet

20100219101

When I was pouring wine into the goblet, the weirdest thing happened: some water is leaking from the bottom…Sounds like astonishing tricks by magicians? Then everyone could become a professional magician only if he/she owns the Leaky Goblet. It looks really attractive and interesting with the base shaped like a puddle. But do keep certain distance from your audience when performing because the puddle is not real. Note my warning.

Special Labels enable visually impaired people to feel the commodities.

201002181001

Similar to the ‘Shopping guider for blind‘, the product is also designed to help the blinds identify the goods easily when they’re shopping alone. The difference is that, these special labels didn’t adopt any innovative technologies, but simply explored the drawing techniques. Therefore the blinds could feel the figures on the label to make sure what the item actually is. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Movie Polaroid Camera

20100218901

Though it’s just an innovative concept from Kim Hyun Joong, Movie Polaroid Camera also presents a good prospect of filming equipments in the future. It is an attractive camera that could print movies on a substrate that mimics traditional Polaroid film paper, using the built-in movie printer. The compact size of the movie films also means an easy transportation, enabling the users to take them everywhere in the wallets or pockets. Though having no power buttons, the Movie Polaroid Camera could be easily charged by giving it some shakes, and that’s also used to juice up the films for viewing. [Read the rest of this entry...]

FlexibleLove Virgin

20100218801

Incorporating an ‘accordion-like, honeycomb’ structure, the FlexibleLove Virgin by Chishen Chiu could accommodate a seating for 8 to 16 people at one time. The product line now consists of two different kinds of FlexibleLove, the Earth 8 and the Earth 16. Both of them are made of recycled materials like the recycled paper, recycled wood waste, etc. When given a simple pull at each end, the furniture could be easily transformed into a semicircular or a circular-shaped seating to hold as many as 16 people. But when folded up, it measures merely one tenths of that. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Two-way Toothpaste

20100218701

Though the Two-way Toothpaste is announced to be designed for those who usually “get angry with their partner for squeezing the toothpaste from the front”, what I see from the design is an easier way to completely squeeze out the toothpaste from the tube. With an extra way for the toothpaste, the users could easily get the last bit of toothpaste by squeezed the tube hard towards the two opposite directions. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Socks Anatomy

20100218401

Some of us just adore the monstrous stuff. Correct me if I’m wrong! Just look at the ‘Socks Anatomy’ designed by Anton Repponen, they’re obviously another products meant for the most weird of your grocery lists. Different from other socks aiming to keep your tissues inside, these socks are trying their best to have your bones, muscles and other tissues exposed. Though perfect for Halloween, such socks are not suggested for daily using because you may scare the children and the elders a lot.

Multiple Chair

20100218301

The chair is well-known for its unique shape. Just as you can see from the pictures, seemingly that one single chair is producing five exact reproductions! But the five semi-transparent chairs are also designed for use, as they’re actually finished in a welded steel frame fused with a transparent seat and back. [Read the rest of this entry...]
