Coming from Primpo Co., Ltd, the “Isonic” cane works more like the visually impaired people’s new eyes, rather than merely a conventional stick, due to its powerful detection function and the capability to ‘read’ colors. It will be showcased at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair held from April 13 to 16, as part of a project to assist Korean firms in their overseas marketing activities.

Built with an integrated supersonic sensor, “Isonic” can detect obstacles within a range of 25 degrees horizontally and 50 degrees vertically. It won’t omit any obstacles measuring wider than 3cm, within a distance of 2 meters. The cane’s vibrating indicator will send a stronger signal to the user, informing him/her of the obstacle around if he/she is getting closer to the object.

Another thing to be mentioned is the built-in color sensor, which can recognize an object’s color and send the information to the users by voice messages. At present, only ten colors are detectable, including red, orange and blue.
