What do you think the wood block is used for?
Have you guessed right? It is a compact card holder. When unfolded, the box would form a maple top to hold your cards, ball pens, erasers, etc.

We just put this box in the cemetery with our brothers favorite dog ash in it, because our brother was put there recently also.
