20100712101

Mercedes Arrow is a two-seater recreational vehicle designed by Felipe Palermo. It comes with two stunning features, one of which is the bobsleigh-shaped body and the lightweight materials which make the vehicle to run like an arrow from a bow on the road. Sand Printer

20100710501

Spanish design consultancy Zanadesign has created the Sand Printer spelling messages on the beach, as an important part of your summer holiday. The printer is a huge wheel, which will leave behind messages like ‘HELP’ or ‘World Cup 2010′ as you roll it along the beach. Apart from providing recreational activities for people on the sandy beach, the Sand Printer is also supposed to re-educate the people of Spain (at least those on the beach) about the importance of the country’s Constitution of 1812. 20100710401

As we become more and more technologically inclined, the books we read has followed the same trend. But while most others prefer to read online, the London designers Campaign are still keeping their deep love for paper books. Therefore Campaign has designed a cardboard bookshop for the London Festival of Architecture, to celebrate the art form of the printed publication. Named as Foldaway Bookshop, the store is stocked by RIBA Bookshops and sells latest must-have high quality publications and the most coveted architecture classics. Pity that the shop opens just for 13 days and it will be recycled at the end of the Festival. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Weird Beetle In the Desert That Collects Water

20100710101

Kitae Pak designed the Dew Bank Bottle lately after being inspired by onymacris unguicularis, a beetle found in the Namibian desert. The beetle procures water in a unique way: it goes to the peak of the sand dune every morning, and uses its body to help in dew formation, making the dew enriched fog to provide enough water for drinking. The Dew Bank Bottle works in almost the same way as that beetle. Its steel body assimilates the morning dew, purifies the water and then stores it in the bottle.

The Dew Bank Bottle won the Bronze Prize at the Idea Design Awards 2010.

The Forest In A Box

20100709501

The sunlight filters through clouds, glints through the leaves, and finally shines bright on a girl’s faces, dancing on her eyelids and hairs… That sounds wonderful, right? But the beautiful scene wasn’t seen in the wild country where are full of trees, but in a white box with a few square meter footprint. So welcome to the Unlimited Urban Woods, an illusory forest installed by DUS Architects in a public plaza in Oosterdokskade, Amsterdam, using a series of strategically angled mirrors and one single full-size tree. Really magical! And we bet the forest inside the box is no less unusual than the Wonderland that Alice has come across. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Knife + Fork = The Knork

20100709201

I don’t think it’s a nice idea to combine the knife and fork into one eating utensil, because you’ll still have to use the other hand to hold the food while one of the hands is busy with the Knork. So why not just leave those two utensils in different hands? But for people who love double-duty items, the Knork is indeed attractive. It contains no sharp edges, so you needn’t worry that you’ll accidentally cut your mouth open. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Waterproof Power Strip

20100709101

A safe power strip should at least conform to the following two requirements: electric shock resistant and water resistant. Therefore the Wet Circuits Power Strip is just a safe power strip. It is designed to work under water, so you will neither get shocked when carelessly sticking your wet fingers into the holes nor cause burns if accidentally spilling water or coffee onto the strip. Moreover, the power strip will still be safe even if you stick a metal object into the outlet when the device is operating under running water! Come check out the product demonstration video here if you love the design. [Read the rest of this entry...]
