Glass Speakers

20100917201

What if your glass windows can work as speakers? That sounds really amazing, right? But before that, you should firstly learn something about the “Glass Speaker”. Measuring four feet tall and weighing 80 pounds each, the transparent speaker can produce a full 360° of sound and that’s about as perfect as other speakers. So how does the speaker work? According to the folks from Greensound, the base of each speaker can vibrate and the different areas of the glass slabs can create different frequencies of sounds, and hence a 360° of sound is produced. Inspired by that, Choi Hyong-Suk, Jung Ji-hye and Yoo-Jin Park have collaborated with the “Smart Finger”, an innovative measurement device that caps your two fingers and uses the signals relayed between the two points to bridge the gap. After that, the measured distance will then be displayed through LED. [Read the rest of this entry...]

20100916201

When there were no wires or chains, humans used to bind things together or hold something in position with ivy. But when the same ivy is used today, it is deemed as a decorative accessory rather than a tool. Designed by Sono Mocci for ‘Seoul Cycle Design Competition 2010′, the new lock for bikes comes with a green and fresh look, and it appears the same as real ivy you’ll find in the nature. Hopefully ducks and chicks wouldn’t mistake that as their meals… Just for kidding. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Frozen Aquarium in Japan

20100916101

20100915101

You’ll never pick up any clean clothes from washing machines unless you take exercise. Shown at IFA 2010, the eco machine is really simple but practical: the charging battery will power the machine to wash clothes when a man pedals on the exercise bike. And you don’t have to spare too much time, as basically 20 minutes of work can wash one load of clothes on cold cycle.
