20111225003

The fields in which LED is applied are far more than what we’ve ever expected, but it’s still quite surprising to see LED lights used in building an anti-aging mask. Can LED solve our skin problems? The answer from scientists is “yes”, and it is claimed that the “Magic LED Beauty Mask” will bring young and healthy skin back to you within 7 to 21 days by encouraging collagen and elastin regeneration as LED can “stimulate fibroblast activity”.

Low-cost Solar Paint

20111224001

Quite soon in the future we’ll be using solar paint on our houses to harvest energy to power the household electricity, as researchers from the University of Notre Dame have developed low-cost solar paint using nano-sized particles of titanium dioxide, coated with cadmium sulfide or cadmium selenide. Once brushed onto any conducting materials and exposed to the sunlight, the paint will then create electricity with a light-to-energy conversion efficiency of 1%. Even though its efficiency isn’t high enough, the researchers are still trying to improve it, so as to make the solar paint both low-cost and high-efficiency for household use.

Pinoky Gives Stuffed Animals Their Lives

20111223001

Stuffed animals used to be inanimate toys that can only get moved by the humans; but now they can successfully move on their own, with the aid of the Pinoky—a small, ring-like device that wirelessly brings stuffed animals to “life”. It uses a micro controller, a Zigbee input device and a servo motor system to move an animal’s hands and legs, also with a set of photo sensors designed to measure the angle at which it bends. Thus simply pin the Pinoky onto your stuffed animals, and you will then see them move and dance automatically. Really funny, huh? You can get it as a Christmas gift for your kids.

Creative Laptop Bag that Can Charge Your Computers.

20111223016

Honestly we seldom see laptop bags redesigned with many new functions, not to mention a bag that actually serves as a charger as well. This amazing design comes from Brad Ascalon, which utilizes wireless charging technology to convert a laptop bag into a charging machine. Now have a look at the bag: its inner tray is in fact the charger and its carrying strap actually contains USB male connector at one end and a plug on the other. So once connect the strap end to another computer or an electrical outlet, and then you can get your laptop recharged wirelessly. That’s not all! The same USB port allows the laptop bag to work as a thumb drive on its own too.
