Stormproof Matches

20111205001

Honestly I’ve completely forgotten the invention of matches after the day there is cigar lighter on the world, but quite surprisingly I still wanted to have a try of these Stormproof Matches once I saw several keywords about them: windproof, waterproof and stormproof, burning for up to 15 seconds… That’s really attractive, and all those features make the matches especially useful for camping, fishing, boating and emergency conditions.

“LandingZone” Dock for MacBook Air

20111204001

Nowadays industrial designs seem to have gone into a strange circle, which means while someone is trying to make things thinner and slender, others are busying redesign those removed parts into a full-functional accessory. Have a look at all those kinds of gadgets made for your thin smart mobiles and you’ll know what I mean. But anyway, to design something is always better than to destroy something, so when seeing this “LandingZone” I still thought it is a good product. It can sit on your desk, hooking up to power, a monitor, an Ethernet cable and four USB devices, thus providing you with a more convenient way to control both your laptop and other gadgets.

Interactive OLED Mirror

20111202001

Cleverly combining light and shadow together, the giant OLED mirror collaborated by rAndom International and Chris O’Shea would feel the human’s movement and thus to interact in the term of either light or mirrors. Stand still, and the panels act like mirrors, but when you’re on the move, the OLED pixels then light up. The other interacting type is totally different, as wherever you go would become mirrors with the left parts still act as light. It’s very magical, and now the You Fade to Light has been produced in a limited edition of just eight units, each is selling for €140,000. So if you don’t think it’s exciting enough to watch them in the video, you may consider getting home one such piece.

Bacteria Lamp

20111202015

How are we going to live the future? According to Philips, in the next few years we should be using wall-mounted vats of bioluminescent bacteria as night light. That sounds bit of weird? Not exactly. Good news is that you don’t need to pay for the electricity bills any more, but instead you have to feed the bacteria with some household waste (which has been digested by other bacteria to form methane gas) so that the bacteria will provide soft green light at night.
