Surprisingly Amazing Leaf Carvings

Leaf carving is a kind of well-known folk art from China. Just as its name implies, leaf carving is to produce an artwork by cutting and carving on the leaves without removing any leaf veins. Usually, by the time a leaf carving is accomplished, more than 60 separate operations (including tanning, trimming, soaking, carving, grinding, ironing, bleaching, etc.) have been performed on it. Believe it or not, these 3D wall decors rich in colors and patterns are all handmade from paper by an ingenious graphic designer Yulia Brodskaya. She perfectly combines typography, paper and dedicate hand-made craft objects all together, endowing these advertising posters with a distinctive beauty. Using the unique technique, Yulia Brodskaya has made advertising posters for Orange, Nokia and other companies. Bravo!

Chocolate Theme Park is to open in Beijing on 29th, January.

What, you haven’t heard of the Chocolate Theme Park? You must be kidding, right? The Chocolate Wonderland Park in Beijing is ready to accept customers on 29th, this month.

Located on the north side of the Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium, the park includes five pavilions (the World’s Chocolate Hall, World’s Candy Hall, Wonderland Theme Hall, Sweet Experience Hall and Sweet Gift Hall) and two outdoor activity areas (the Sweet Stage and Sweet Shopping Street). The park features chocolate-made miniature of Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Terra Cotta Warriors and other famous Chinese attractions and all those are believed to help people around the world to learn about China better. Have you ever imagined that one day all the trees disappeared and we had to make some trees with paper? Frustrating to say the least. But possibly that won’t happen as we’ve realized the importance of protecting the nature at present, due to the Papercraft Tree by Le Creative Sweatshop. Made from recycled and FSC-certified paper, the tree is specially designed for show our respect to the Arjowiggins Creative Papers, who have pledged to save one hectare of Brazilian rainforest at the COP15 conference held last month. What couldn’t be artistic, if the most common potatoes have been turned into art works? Via a series of portraitures painted on potatoes, the Japanese designer successfully shows us various aspects of human life.
