In order to call for further exploration in prototyping processes, Stockholm’s two design schools have collaborated to design these weird shoes. Five pairs of them, as Naim’s “Melonia” collection, were showcased during the Stockholm Fashion Show this month. Though seemingly not that solid, the shoe is actually firm enough to hold a normal adult thanks to its unique structures.

Modular Tree Project is an impressive concept by Chilean artists Emilio Marin and Claudio Magrini. At present, the project has been firstly realized in the Santiago valley, Chile.

Simpler but practical designs are always popular and today we’ll show you another ‘we should have thought of that before’ product. It is the ‘Keep2Green’ pot by Paul Gribincea. The concept about it is quite simple: the system makes a full use of the space and water by planting some grass beneath the hanging pot. So you’ve gotten that? Good. Mainly made from metal, ‘Keep2Green’ is heavy enough to withstand moderate winds and holds the flower pot steadily in the air.

The Boogie Board LCD Tablet may be the best replacement of paper and pen for your usual writing. It features a Reflex LCD screen (a pressure-sensitive and flexible plastic) to display images or words you’ve written on its surface with a pen, a stick or your fingers. Ji-in Byun, Cho Jung Seok and Oh Seul Ki have sent in images of their latest project. They cooperated to create a new kind of trash bin to promote the conventional rubbish can. Specially designed for bench, the trash bin comes with a streamlined base, which could be easily pitched into the sand for stability. That means bins are handy and you can use them more conveniently. Obviously the ‘Swiss Army Knife’ has deeply affected both the designers and the consumers, and the former are developing compact products that come with more essentials these days. The TMT Tactical Wallet is just one of them. It is a small wallet, but includes almost everything you may need, such as a compass, tweezers, a toothpick, a pen, a glass breaker and a couple of hidden compartments. Sadly the wallet is already 0.5 lb without your money or cards in it, and it doesn’t seem that convenient for you to put it into your pocket. But who cares? We could use it as a toolbox rather than a wallet.

ThermaHelm is a helmet that could stabilize the temperature of the brain, and believed by its designer Jullian Preston-Powers, the helmet “has the potential to save thousands of lives around the world every year”. It contains two lightweight chemical packs— one is filled with water and inside the other is ammonium nitrate. And you may have guessed right, the two will mix and trigger a ‘cooling’ reaction when given an impact.

Jullian Preston-Powers said that, he got the inspiration after sustaining an injury during a game of basketball. When playing basketball with his friend, Jullian Preston-Powers accidentally hit his friend’s head with the elbow and then someone handed them ice-packs for their injuries. “It was so cold I couldn’t hold it for very long,” Mr. Preston-Powers said, “So I placed it in my friend’s motorcycle helmet and he accidentally put it on while the pack was inside. He was surprised by how good it felt and that’s when I had that eureka moment.”

An $815 version of the ThermaHelm also comes with video cameras, GPS and Bluetooth and it is expected to be launched in the UK in May this year.

The designer tactfully associated the ESL’s spiral shape with the pigtail, and finally came up with these lovely lamps. It’s really attractive.

Although claimed to be specially designed for spa hotels, the three cute slippers could also perform perfectly for household use. It works in a way like this: featuring a hollowed-out design, the slippers will dry your feet effectively by leaving the water onto the ground after you take a shower or spa. But of course you’ll have to mop the floor after that, which comparatively costs you more time. Anyhow, it’s still your best selection when going for a spa.

Look, the armchair wants to hug you! Designed with two stretchable ‘arms’, the chair could be easily transformed into a chaise longue when you need more space and as a result to make you feel comfortable in every positions.
