Clock Parasol

20110224301

Japanese designer Kota Nezu has recently released this Clock Parasol, something that has drawn an inspiration from sun dials. It comes with many lines on the board of the umbrella—the vertical lines indicating hours while the horizontal lines indicating solstices and equinoxes. It is also built with a compass on the handle, which helps you to find magnetic north. Based on those designs, you only need to place the hood in the same position of the earth, look up at the umbrella and then get an approximate time. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Yuento Magic Umbrella Slides Into Its Handle

20100707101

One is always at choice whatever the circumstances are presented, and the most common thing I can think of is whether or not to use the umbrella. Surely the umbrellas do a good job to keep the users from rain, but on the other hand they make our bags and books wet after using! Therefore the umbrellas need some changes, for example, they can have a double-duty handle. Made by Yuento, the “Magic Umbrella” comes with a long, hollow plastic cone, which acts as both a handle and a portable box to store the wet folded umbrella. That means, you slide the umbrella into the cone, twist on the cap, and then you can carry the umbrella in the bags without worrying that water may get your other items wet. Double Side Umbrella Strap

20100324301

We seldom roll the umbrella up in the right way, and we have to do that once more to have it fastened. But that happens merely because we’re too careless? I don’t think so, and neither do the industrial designers. So to offer a clever and effective solution to that problem, they’ve come up with the Double Sided Umbrella, which features a magnetic peg and ring so that the umbrella will get easily fastened no matter in which direction you roll it up. Well, you just innocently forget the umbrellas. Dangling Umbrella, however, is an umbrella that wouldn’t be easily forgotten. Air Umbrella by Je Sung Park

201001141001

Air Umbrella is not a real product but a concept that uses a sheet of steady air as the canopy! It features a hollow stick which absorbs in and blows out air to form a barrier between you and the raindrops. And the better point is that, the size of the air canopy could be easily changed to meet your different needs through a simple work. Isn’t that magic? After the thing gets real, not only we’ll change the way to use an umbrella, but the definition of the word ‘umbrella’ may be changed, too. [Read the rest of this entry...]
