Although there’re many answers to that question, the most surprising one in fact comes from the Las Vegas’ CES, during which XPAL Power launched its SpareOne mobile phone and announced that the SpareOne can work for 15 years simply relying on one AA battery. The compact cellphone is mainly designed for phone calls, thus it doesn’t come with so many functions as other mobiles do. But that on the other hand makes it really ideal and suitable for outdoor adventurists who want to stay in contact, but without the worry of losing a more valuable device.

Despite smartphones’ outstanding functions and large screens, perhaps you still find it not exciting enough to watch films or play games with them? Yes, we all need a device with larger screen, such as the LightPad developed by QP Optoelectronics. It’s a folio-styled peripheral that combines a keyboard with an 11-inch rear projection screen. Once connected to your smartphone, the device’s built-in projector can then light up the screen with a resolution of 854 x 480 (the first generation) or 1280 x 720 resolution (the second generation), offering you a more fantastic experience with larger screens. If that’s still not big enough, the device can even create a 60-inch display on the wall with its built-in projector flipped around. So do you like it? The LightPad is expected to be exhibited next month at CES 2012.

Sharp’s 12.1-Megapixel, 1/3.2-inch CMOS camera module is rightly what many cellphone manufacturers are waiting for, as it would help to create slender designs in the future. Announced to be the world’s thinnest CMOS module, the device is merely 5.47 mm in height while supports full HD (1080p) video capture and also high-level optical image stabilization. Sample shipments will begin from December 2, 2011 and volume shipment from January 10, 2012.

With everything, such as the cellphones and the tablet, turns to become much thinner and lighter than before, the accessories made for them is gonna in the same trend too. From Giesecke & Devrient, the new nano-SIM now comes with a smaller size, measuring merely 12mm x 9mm, which is 60 percent smaller than the classic model. Still, the new SIM is 15% thinner too. That’s quite exciting news as we may soon get everything thin and lightweight. But is that a good thing? I don’t know.

Hmm, apparently the Microsoft Company thought you should have been using their products and they unveiled a 55 feet high Windows Phone at NYC’s Herald Square recently, to let you know and use their products. It is announced “the World’s Largest Windows Phone”, comprised of control rooms, display stages and decorative tiles too. Whenever the phone is demonstrating its perfect functions such as music or game, several people would then appear on the stage and offer a live show. Really impressive, how I wish I could be there!

How could people with disabilities communicate via cellphones? They must have gotten these gloves created by Tom Bieling and Ulrike Gollner. It transforms speech to text or vice-versa through hand-touch signing alphabets, transmits the information to user’s handset via Bluetooth and then send it o the receiver via an SMS.
