You’re rightly the person that controls your own time, no matter how fast or slow the real time passes… That sounds sweet and nice, and that’s why I love the idea of “Your Clock” put forward by Breadedescalope Design Studio. Simply by offering a cord, the clock allows the users to control the passage of time: the timepiece will hold time still until you pull the cord to let the numbers flip.  So what do you think? Time is a mystery, while Hans Andersson’s LEGO Clock makes time more complex and mystical. Named as “Time Twister”, the Rubik’s Cube-esque LEGO Clock is constructed with two Mindstorm, five motors and black and white LEGO bricks. When switched on, the blocks will then be rearranged to display the time by communicating through Bluetooth. As the designer offers no detail about its basic principles, I still don’t why and how the clock works. So if you know, hopefully you can share it with us.

After Motorola has been “married” to Google, the company is seemingly to announce much more amazing products, including the MotoACTV Smart Watch, a GPS-enabled watch built with a music player, a wireless Bluetooth headphone, an FM radio and so on. It is compatible with your Android phone for call and text receiving, and weighs merely 35g for a comfortable wearing. The watch will soon be available in November, featuring an 8GB or 16GB of internal storage.

Monthly Measure Calendar is a simple but practical hand-operated calendar, which uses a seven-angle star and a ruler with one serrated side to indicate thе day οf thе month аnd thе date. It includes two parts to indicate time: the small dome on the top for hours and the window in front for minutes. Alarm clocks are wonderful devices, and among them Oliver Sha’s IQ Alarm Clock is obviously the best. It has no snooze button, but instead you have two choices to make the clock stop ringing: one is to answer 1 to 3 questions, and the other is to press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. So what will your choose, the former method or the latter one?

The Edison Alarm Clock, although involves the great scientist Thomas A. Edison, actually is an innovative work by David Krawczyk. But the designer does have drawn some inspirations from Edison, and eventually he used electrical current to control the clock: the alarm will be turned on when you insert the bulbs into desired time slots, and the timepiece will be illuminated at the same time. Isn’t that fantastic? Edison will surely love the design too.

Celsius X VI II treasures every moment as much as you do. That’s why the French company designed and built mechanical cellphone, a $300,000 device that combines a transparent cellphone with a delicate mechanical watch.

“We want to take the useful functions of the cell phone and try to re-think them, and re-create them in a mechanical way,” Celsius co-founder Alejandro Ricart explained. Thus the mechanical cellphone is believed to make much more sense than ordinary mobiles because it also doubles as a timepiece.

Anyone interested in the mechanical cellphone is suggested to take his/her chance since there’re only 46 pieces all over the world. Be sure not to miss it.

Modern clock designers try to arouse us from deep sleep in a way that will give the users more surprise or freshness. And the Domino Clock features three dominoes that communicate wirelessly to display the time. “The numbering scheme on dominoes and dice developed as a way to represent numbers that’s immediately recognizable, so in a lot of ways it makes perfect sense to use it as a time piece,” explains Sullivan. But before you get the time accurately, you’ll firstly need to spend some time getting used to its unique way of telling the time.

In form the clock designed by Daniel Weil of Pentagram is something like a spinning-wheel, but it’s actually a digital one running on single AA battery. It also tells time in a different way, displaying minutes on the outside and hours on the inside of a nickle-plated ring. So you think the clock is quite special, right? Apparently Geneva-based Altanus has resulted in a world-wide revolution of timepieces after they announced to own the world’s first biodegradable paper watch “Patch”. From Robotic Hands Clock to Bungee Jumping Mint Clock, Korean designer Jongchul Kim has surprised us with really amazing clocks. And right here is another wall clock that you’ll fancy. It’s the Marionette Clock, which shows time with its hanging hand that is hooked up with the string to two Mint Boys at the top. So as the Mint Boys ride their unicycles, the vertical wire length will be changed, and the time will then be displayed. Really interesting, isn’t it?

The invention and application of the digital players marks that the mankind have entered the Digital Age, during which period people seldom use vinyl records or CD players. But we never forget them, and designer Pavel Sidorenko has applied the clock idea to vinyl records, creating several clocks of various shapes. You see, here is a gun, a bird, a rabbit, a chair, a teapot, and all of them are laser-cut. Fantastic!

The sun rises in the east and sets in the west everyday to indicate the changes of light; the spring, summer, autumn and winter rotate to indicate the changes of seasons. And now, the 12 figures that indicate the hours emerge and disappear to tell us how the time elapses. Dubbed “Re-clock”, the time-telling device features no minutes but merely 12 hours, which are indicated via 12 figures that gradually appear on the layers of cloth-face from midnight to the noon while then disappear successively from the noon to the next midnight. Simply put, the Re-clock changes everyday, “from zero to something, and vice versa”.

When asked how the time passes away, different people have different opinions. Some of them insist that time flows away like running water, and others may believe the time is always at a standstill. As for Gavin Henderson, the designer feels that time can grow taller and shorter. You don’t understand? Well, look carefully at the Vertical Clock.

It’s constructed from three bars, one of which indicates the hour and the other two the minute. As time passes, the three bars will move up and down to tell the exact time.

Mounted on the wall or held in the hand, the clock is always interesting to look at. According to the designer, the Vertical Clock can change from 10 inches and 17inches in length, and that’s really amazing.

Coming from German industrial designer Patrick Frey, ‘Gregor’ looks not that different compared with conventional ones. But when you want to leaf through the calendar, OMG, you need to unwind it stitch by stitch…That’s really interesting! Made from fiber, the knitted calendar will finally turn into a pile of thread.

Developed by Cabestan Watches, ‘Sol Invictus’ is the first solar-powered mechanical timepiece around the world. It features the new iconic chain and fusée, drums and vertical tourbillon, and also adopts the silicium crystals as efficient solar cells to generate sufficient power.

Its inner system is rather sophisticated- two brushless motors are used for rewinding the movement and setting the time, as well as a miniature controller for regulating the motors’ speed and amplifying the electrical charge. The motors and the rechargeable lithium-ion batteries are positioned under the solar cells. But wearing a price tag of $560,000, will the timepiece really be that popular? Hmm…It remains to be seen.

You think the watch is merely an amazing concept? It’s real, coming from Thomas Prescher. All its components have been hidden in the bezel except the tourbillon, which is held in the middle of space by a single metal wire. The rotating cylinders at the top separately indicate the hours and minutes. Positioned between them is a spherical, moon phase calendar. At the bottom is also an interesting calendar—days on the left and months on the right. Integrated with a horizontal swinging oscillating weight based on gravity, the calendar would show you the dates no matter which side of the watch is held up. Also note that there’re two crowns, one for winding and the other for setting the time and calendar.

Before you all leave comments about the “quite ordinary clock”, I’ve just had a question for you: how could the Oblique Clock indicate the exact time since it has no essential components like the gears? (Hints: the clock is made of laminated maple, custom mechanism and digital driver.)

Tokyoflash is a Japanese watch manufacturer that believes “the crazier, the better”. One of their unique design—’LED Watch’ may help you catch on that slogan better. It is the world’s first Morse Code Watch, featuring three modes for telling the time: Audio speaker sounding out the time in Morse Code, regular time display and Morse Code LED display. Taking the last time display for example, the LEDs will light up for three times to indicate the exact time. For the first time, each stripe on the display stands for ‘an hour’, for the second time, they means ‘ten minutes’, and for the last time, each of the stripe indicates ‘one minute’. So the watch shown in the picture below just tells “10:58″. You think that’s complicated? Surely it is to others, but not to the owners.

Not all the hands on watches are used to indicate the time. Sometimes, they’re just designed for decoration, or merely for fun, such as Stas Aki’s watch.

Though still integrated with an hour hand and a minute hand, the Immovable Watch actually tells the time by showing digital numbers above the two hands. Therefore, the time is put on a 24-hour scale instead of the commonly-used 12-hour scale.

Apart from telling you the accurate time, the Annular Eclipse Clock designed by Lee, Gimpo-si and Gyeonggi-do will also show you the process of total solar eclipse every day. How? Well, as you can see from the pictures, the transparent plate will gradually turn into opaquely dark from morning to the evening. The Annular Eclipse Clock also features two different ways to tell the time: during the daytime, it uses the two black spots to separately indicate the hour and minute while employs two shadows to show the time when in the night.

This very sleek watch allows you to see the time in quite a convenient way.
