New US Bank Notes

20100901301

We’re not sure whether the new US bank notes designed by Richard Smith will “rebrand the US Dollar, rebuild financial confidence and revive our failing economy”, but we can promise that you can easily check out how much money you have by simply opening the wallet. Why? Because the one dollar is shorter while the 100 dollar is the longest, so the more longer notes you have, the richer you’re. Apart from the length, the new notes also change in colors and images for the users to easily distinguish between them. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Yaniv Berg’s Digital Reflex Camera

20100819301

Featuring a unique shape of a tube, Yaniv Berg’s Digital Reflex Camera (DSLR) will create you an entirely different experience of photography. Firstly, you needn’t have to hold the camera to your face but simply put it against your stomach during the process, since the new camera curves at the end to show you the images. Another change the camera will result in is that you photographers needn’t have to bend down awfully or even lie onto the ground to check out what you’re shooting. The last but not the least is that when you turn the camera, its interface screen then turns the image to display mode and the image will be rotated 180 degree for the observers. Toshiba’s Wipe Technology

20100814301

Toshiba recently announced the world’s first “Wipe” technology that can automatically wipe sensitive data from self-encrypting drives when a system is powered down or the HDD is removed from the system. By that means, your data will get effectively protected. But the technology cannot really wipe the data, but actually invalidates the security key used to encrypt the stored user data. To users of printers and photocopiers that have storage devices on board, the “Wipe” technology is quite worth waiting for, and they’ll soon see Toshiba’s first product—2.5″ 7200rpm SED HDD model on the market.

‘leaf-it’ Memo Pads By Sangwoo Nam

20100814101

When we were still a child, we used to put the maple leaves or ginkgo leaves between pages of a book and they were possibly the first kind of bookmarks we’ve ever met. Today, Korean designer Sangwoo Nam is still using leaves as bookmarks. However, they’re not real ones from trees, but simply feature the same shapes and colors of leaves. Even so, these artificial leaves are indeed beautiful and vivid, giving us aesthetic satisfaction. [Read the rest of this entry...]

LED Mushroom Lights

20100812301

A withered tree comes to life again. That Chinese idiom suddenly struck me the first time I saw these cute LED mushrooms growing on the ugly wood blocks. Created by a Japan based company using reclaimed wood and LED lights, these shining mushrooms are available in various patterns and we bet each of them will give your gardens and living rooms a new look. You’ll find these LED Mushrooms indeed look better than they were on the screen when you buy them home. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Scratch World Map

20100729301

What do you usually do to show others the places you’ve been on holidays? Mark the city with a small flag on the map? Well, I love that idea, but I love the Scratch World Map more. Though seems like quite an ordinary map on the first glance, the map actually will reveal colorful and geographic details when you rub its top layer with a coin. So the more countries you’ve traveled to, the more colorful your map will be! [Read the rest of this entry...]

One Single Wine Bottle with Two Necks

20100724401

Ampro Design’s Design Business Bottle may be the world’s first wine bottle that comes with two necks. It is also packaged in two glasses, separately labeled “our business” and “your business”, and those two parts are attached to each other by a yellow ribbon printed with a word “is”. So in the designers’ opinion, “our business is (rightly) your business”, do you agree with that? Anyhow, the concept does have captured “the essence of our business in connection with the client’s business.” I like it. [Read the rest of this entry...]

“Slide Eat” Lunch Table

20100724301

Winning entry at LG HI-MACS European Design Award, the “Slide Eat” Lunch Table may not be the best furniture for kids, but it indeed looks cool and quite different from common furniture. Firstly, the new table features a curvy design to take the place of regular sharp edges, keeping the kids from getting hurt. Another point you will be interested is the built-in holders for containing plates, glasses and cutlery, and we bet that would help a lot to avoid the spilling of food. And more importantly, the table is also a slide for kids! [Read the rest of this entry...]

Pixel Orca Sculpture

20100715201

We’d like to call the pixel orca sculpture “the most memorable orca (or sculpture)”, not  because of its huge size and unique design, but because it’s the first orca or sculpture that makes us feel dizzy. Even so, we still believe that the Pixel Orca Sculpture will give a new look to the Vancouver convention center. [Read the rest of this entry...]
