Can you figure out whether these fish are true or fake, if without a closer observation (in fact I don’t think observation can work to tell us the truth this time…)?  Really good work, these fish are actually three-dimensional paintings created by Japanese artist Riusuke Fukahori. Each piece consists of multiple transparent layers, with realistic fish painted on them after each layer of liquid resin becomes solid. Rightly by repeating that process, the artist could finally bring us so incredible 3D paintings.

While the whole world fall in love with iPhone, iPhone loudly says “I love 3D”. To show its love for the popular technology, the Apple Company recently launched an iOS app that allows your iPhone to take 3D photos or shoot 3D videos. The “Snappily” is use to operate, simply download it onto your iPhone, follow the instructions on the screen and then you can make some 3D images. According to reviews, the app seems bit of difficult to get used to, but once you do, the 3D effects are fantastic.

2D or 3D, currently almost all designs are seemingly to face that question. But actually it’s not that difficult to make a decision, because one could become both 2D and 3D at the same time. The Keyboard Wall is rightly a good example. It’s constructed with thousands of keys collected from old computer keyboards, creating a 2D image when you view them from the front while offering 3D pleasure as well since you can feel their unique shapes.

Scribbled Line People is collaborative work between Ayaka Ito and Randy Church, who have used applications like Flash and Photoshop to reconfigure images into interwoven portraits. It seems bit of weird, as the artwork isn’t something beautiful or elegant, but it’s truly amazing.

We’re now in a time full of 3D products: the 3D movies, 3D glasses, 3D TVs, 3D computers, and also the 3D cameras. Launched by Japan-based Panasonic, the “Lumix DMC-3D1″ is a dual-lens camera capable of taking high-resolution 3D images.

It features two ultra wide-angle lenses, which can either work together or work separately, thus to meet the user’s various need of 3D or 2D photography. More specially, its two lenses can do different things at the same time, so that you can use one lens to take 2D photos while using another lens to shot a video. Quite attracting camera, right? It is coming soon by the end of 2011, retailing for 500 dollars.

Based on 3-D printing and two-photon polymerization technology, engineers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology IGB have successfully developed printed blood vessels, which seeded with endothelial cells without being rejected. The team will present their work at the Biotechnica Fair in Hanover, Germany, on October.

It utilizes an electronic blueprint system called “FabApps” that not only allows people to print out their food but also to design something with their imagination. All the “ink” this printer uses is edible, including melted chocolate, cheese or cookie dough. Once the users draw up the food’s design on a computer, the blueprint will then show the printer what goes where, and finally builds up your food with prepared materials. It is said that the 3D printer would soon be launched to market, helping both families and restaurants to customize interesting and healthier dishes.

Till now, the International Funkausstellung Berlin 2011 has brought us many surprising designs and products, and today we’d like to add a new one to the list of innovative electronics. It is Sony’s “Lenticular Sheet”, a thin film that can be places in front of any laptop screens to turn them into glass-free 3D displays. With such a product, 3D fanciers would then enjoy 3D films without needing to wear glasses any more.

Of course the “Lenticular Sheet” cannot work on its own, and the users also need to utilize a certain software to work together with it. When the software works, the webcam of your laptops will move to detect your face, so as to offer you a best 3D display according to your locations. The “Lenticular Sheet” will be on European market on October, with a price of $183.

After quite a long time of research and design, Sony finally issued its ‘Personal 3D Viewer’ Head Mounted Display at IFA in Berlin several days ago, which is claimed to be much better than what it was expected.

The new HMZ-T1 is built with two 0.7-inch OLED screens that simulates a real 750-inch movie theater screen at a viewing distance of 20 meters, so the visual experience of the head-mounted display will no doubt amaze everybody. To offer you a better audio experience, the HMZ-T1 also features a built-in 5.1 surround sound system, with four different voice modes for you to choose from. But since the availability and detailed prices are not released at the time, you’ll still need to wait patiently for the ‘Personal 3D Viewer’ to come.

Making an airplane is no longer a complex course, because the Southampton University has “printed” out an aircraft in merely a couple of days.

It is amazing to see 3D printing technology to be used in manufacturing a plane. 3D printing allows for fine-tuning without the need for great expense, cuts down the time spent on a plane, and still ensures a high quality of aircrafts. The world’s first 3D airplane is now getting ready for its first flight and you’ll soon see it flying with a speed up to 100 miles an hour.

A 3D basketball court seems a little bit ridiculous but it is extraordinarily an awesome idea. Shaped by 3D program on a computer, the new basketball court consists of a soft orange-red tartan covering, two normed baskets and several street lamps that would make the game harder. Located in Munich, Germany, the 3D court welcomes you to go there and have some new fun with it.

Biased Bookshelf- or more exactly the “Bias of Thought” bookshelf- is a 3D structure created by John Leung for shelving books, hanging magazines and holding your other items.

Behind the shelf, its concept is more impressive: “Thoughts are biased. Unlike common tattoos, these ones from designer Jacob Dahlstrup are created by disordering the paper structure with a tattoo machine. They look really amazing, not only featuring a three-dimensional line but also presenting delicate images. I love them!

Two reasons make these sculptures special: they’re all constructed with colorful matches that we seldom saw before; and all the matches are arranged by hands. But the designer’s hard work is really worthy, because each sculpture here seems fantastic, looking just like the real animals and humans.

What’s the coolest way of redesigning ordinary paper pieces? Well if you could cut them into delicate 3D sculptures and make them attract every viewer, then you’re definitely successful. At least as successful as Elsa Mora. Using a knife and some special wooden tools, the genius designer has created several amazing paper sculptures, which in Elsa’s opinion “couldn’t be more perfect”. Microsoft, who has long enjoyed a high reputation both at home and abroad, attracted people all around the world again last month, with its new research project “Pinch-the-Sky”. It is a dome that is equipped with an omni-directional camera, a projector and a 3D model of the solar system. The project is also based on the multi-touch technology, which enables the visitors to navigate and manipulate the 360 degree image presented on the roof using freehand gestures or voice commands.

Transforming digital 3D images directly into physical objects will soon be possible, according to HP, which plans to market its new line of rapid prototyping printers in Europe next month. Manufactured by Stratasys, the 3D printers are based on the fused deposition modeling (FDM) technology, which would transform the 3D images into 3D objects by extruding ABS plastic in thin layers and stacking them together.
