Though claimed featuring a perfect energy saving property long ago, LED hasn’t been widely used yet due to its high cost of up to 28 dollars each. But that’s no longer true after the Cambridge University researchers have developed the cheap LED bulbs that are priced at merely $2.85 each. Even better, the new LEDs are much brighter than usual one and can last quite a long time of up to 60 years.

Qi Pan, a PhD student at the Cambridge University Engineering Department, has designed a ProFORMA (Probabilistic Feature-based On-line Rapid Model Acquisition) program to simplify the 3D modeling. With the help of ProFORMA, users only have to film a detailed paper building with a web camera, and a 3D model will be done. More amazingly, if you shake or move the real model, the CG image will correspondingly do the same thing. Let’s learn more from the video!

This odd clock is from University of Cambridge. Unlike normal clock, it does not have any dial hand or digital display. Instead, as the escape wheel moves, darting blue LED lights behind the openings pause at the correct hour, minute, and second.
You can get more details from the video.
