Exhibited during the CES 2012, Intel’s Nikiski is a laptop built with a transparent touchpad that can serve as a touchscreen as well. When the laptop is closed, the visible gap then converts into a touchscreen, not only displaying a custom Windows 8-esque “Metro” interface, but allowing the users to view power settings, the date/ time or check out their emails without opening up the laptop’s lid. Intel gives no information about the device’s launching time but announced that the Nikiski will be retailed for less than $600 (USD).

It does seem smart, with a computer box measuring 155mm x 192mm x 22mm, and that’s only a little bigger than a DVD box. But its configuration is still amazing, featuring a 2.13 GHz dual-core Intel Atom D2500 CPU, AMD Radeon HD 6450A discrete GPU and 2GB of DDR3 RAM running at 1066MHz, and therefore ideal enough to meet your basic usage of online surfing, file editing, media playing and so on. The Q180 is also outfitted with 500GB HDD storage, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and an 8-in-1 card reader with SDXC format support, allowing you to update the computer according to your own needs. Priced at US$349, the Q180 will be sold in December.

Apparently the computers will become much smaller than we’ve ever imagined, because we people may finally serve as part of the computer. Or in other words, the computer is rightly built in human bodies. Put forward by a team from Washington University, the new contact lenses are embedded with a mini computer that enables people to read their emails directly via the contact lenses. The mini computer’s circuits are made from layers of metal, only several nanometres thick and thus thin enough for comfortable wearing. But is it safe to have circuits in our eyes? That still needs to be further researched and developed.

Till now, the International Funkausstellung Berlin 2011 has brought us many surprising designs and products, and today we’d like to add a new one to the list of innovative electronics. It is Sony’s “Lenticular Sheet”, a thin film that can be places in front of any laptop screens to turn them into glass-free 3D displays. With such a product, 3D fanciers would then enjoy 3D films without needing to wear glasses any more.

Of course the “Lenticular Sheet” cannot work on its own, and the users also need to utilize a certain software to work together with it. When the software works, the webcam of your laptops will move to detect your face, so as to offer you a best 3D display according to your locations. The “Lenticular Sheet” will be on European market on October, with a price of $183.

When loaded with Windows Vista, the mini computer also allows the users to go through a web browser or save pictures, just as that you can see from the video. As the video offers no exact information that helps to judge the computer is real or not, we strongly suggest you watch the video carefully and tell us the answer.

Well, we’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to you for your contribution towards the national security. But next time you’re in the same condition, you probably should firstly make sure they’e not using the Hand Grenade Mouse. Made out of an old grenade casing, the interesting accessory is an ordinary mouse, and will harm no one at all. It’s just meant to look cool.

The Cleankeys Keyboard cleverly solves the common problem of conventional keyboards— full of bacteria and not easy to clean, by adopting a totally smooth surface. It is completely 100% touch sensitive, which would cost you much time in getting used to typing on it, since you won’t feel the keys as you push them. Even so, claimed by its manufacturer, “that time is typically made up many times in the time saved cleaning.” The keyboard is also waterproof, so that you can easily wash it by sticking it under the running water.

Announced by its creator Samsung, the transparent screen also allows you to see other items behind it when using the laptop. Does that really make any sense? I mean, you may not accommodate multiple viewpoints. Even so, the concept still sounds cool and perfect to most guys. Announced by Samsung, these 14-inch transparent OLED displays will be in the shops in less than 12 months. Let’s wait and see!

Ryan has built an in-wall computer for his kitchen! In his blog, Ryan explained why he has that idea:

“For years my wife has been on at me to put a computer into the kitchen where she can manage her recipes, shopping lists, to do lists and access the internet for looking up various things.”

The computer mainly includes a touch screen, an interface cloned from the iPhone and runs Windows XP. With such an appliance inside the kitchen, Ryan and his wife could conveniently check out the weather, recipes and other information via the Internet. We have to admit, the computer has added more fun to the cooking time. So you want it, too? Click the website after the jump for a full tutorial and install one in your kitchen then.

Compared with DOS, Windows is more convenient for us to use. But not for the elders. And to make sure that elderly people are also enjoying the convenience brought by the development of technology as the young people are doing, Sylvia Spencer has come up with the Perch Computer, which adopts the induction technology to store information. It features several keys (which individually store certain data) on the allotted slot and a touch screen. And to the elderly, they can directly drag or drop these keys to receive letters, surf the internet or do something else.

What do you think the white and compact item is used for? Think well before you give me the answer.
Well, did it ever occur to you that it is an ultra-thin PC for kids? Certainly adults could use it, too, but actually, the semi-flexible PC is especially designed for children only, by the One Laptop Per Child and the designer Yves Behar. Durable and portable, the XO-3 also features a full-touch keyboard, a horizontal and vertical reading mode, as well as a camera. Though it is equipped with everything you could possibly need, Fuse Project’s XO-3 costs merely 75 dollars each, so that every kid around the world would own his/her own computer.

It is expected to be on the market in 2012.

The new product is designed with almost no more components except a base, a ball and two thin buttons, reducing much weight of the mouse. As a result, “Demat Mouse” works in a different way from regular ones. When you press the button on to click, it will then send a signal to the hardware and therefore implements your instructions.

It is the most portable PC we’ve ever seen. Shaped like a headphone, the new computer is built with a 2-inch screen which creates an excellent visual effect as that of a 15-inch one. Wanna learn more about it? Well, then you mustn’t neglect its powerful function of page transition, simply controlled by your head’s motion. Still, the wearable PC could act to voice commands like “zoom out” or “zoom in”. It runs Windows CE 6.0, supporting both Bluetooth and WIFI.

This is a stunning concept, especially for artists. It comes with a digital brush which can directly obtain color from real objects and then use it on the display.

The amazing roller display is also unbelievable. It has a translucent mode which allows you to portrait the real scenery even though you do not have any painting skill.

Plus, the Conceiton’s digital pen could also be used to measure objects’ dimensions.

This is a good concept. It only features three main components which are the projector, the keyboard, the power supply. If you need any other component, you should purchase by yourself. They could be assembled like LEGOs.
