I’ve already felt that I’m breathing in some fresh air once I see His Filter Sewer designed by InHo Lee. The new public drain system can segregate trash from wet waste, keeping the drains clog-free. It can be placed with odor, therefore always purifying the air.

Creative Japanese Manhole Covers

Possibly next time you’re asked why Japan is a country full of creativity, you should show them the example of Japanese manhole covers. In a photography book “Drainspotting”, artist Remo Camerota has documented many interesting drain covers, in order to show the world something Japanese that hasn’t been spotted. “Carrying at least four cameras at any one time you can be assured that I will be documenting much that Japan has to offer in the coming future and releasing books, Ipad Photo books and Painted Artworks.” Camerota writes. Smooth Cover For City Drains

The Smooth Cover collaborated by Yan-Ting Chen with Hsin Yeh for city drains is quite good an example to prove that small changes of the ordinary gadgets can result in great changes of our life. Compared with regular drain covers, the Smooth Cover features slanted slits that are narrow enough to keep the trash away from the running rain water so that the drains won’t get blocked. And more importantly, the innovative cover promises that ladies wouldn’t have their stiletto stick into the drains any more. Really good news for the stiletto beauties.

Cleaning the toilet drain? It has got to be stopped. I’ve had enough of it, and from now on, I’ll leave all that to the Carack Drain. It is a blue boy from Oh Kyoung Hea, and his cute head will bob up and down to indicate you to clean the drain once the drain is choked with hair. It also features a sunken drain-trap to gather your body grime and hair so that your work would be easy enough—just lift the blue head and clean it.
