You’ll never pick up any clean clothes from washing machines unless you take exercise. That’s what we may have to face when China based electronics company Haier launches its Pedal-Powered Washing Machines in the future. Shown at IFA 2010, the eco machine is really simple but practical: the charging battery will power the machine to wash clothes when a man pedals on the exercise bike. And you don’t have to spare too much time, as basically 20 minutes of work can wash one load of clothes on cold cycle. Since the human-powered washing machine would save your money and keep your figure, will it be taken back to your home?

Do we need a radiator to keep our ass warm in the cold winter? You may think that’s a stupid question, but the Dutch designer Jeroen Wesselink does think it’s necessary to make himself a Radiator Chair. And he has created one using discarded radiators. It’s welded to get the shape of zig-zag chair and still features an interface letting heat pass through to warm your back and ass.

Orbital Washing Machine, which takes the very name from the fact that it has a spherical drum spinning on two axes, is an eco-friendly home appliance that would save you great amounts of water and energy. When the machine works, its spherical drum will spin on the two axes to move the clothes in all directions so that they can get washed with little energy and water. Besides, the spherical drum can also be used as a laundry hamper for dirty clothes as it is removable.

Either carrying water from distant areas back to their home or taking heavy laundry to the rivers, housewives in developing countries really need to spend too much time washing the clothes. But that situation may be changed if they are to use the ‘Swirl’. It is a ball-shaped washing device, with a swirled sphere basket and lid inside it. As a result, the users could roll the ball from home to the source of water to get the dirty clothes washed. And when they arrive at the river, they could simply change the water and roll the washing ball back home to have the process of laundry completely done. Oh, and the handle screw-locked with the ball also allows you to easily pull or push the functional washing ball.

But you also need a spacious kitchen, so I bet you’ll need the Electrolux Double-O by Victor Ong. Targeting at small house users, the device not only integrates a compact cooking system for single appliances, but creates an extra base for another pot when you slide it.

Segway has been very popular all over the world. But Japan’s moto giant Toyota expect to release a new similar product named Winglet to compete with Segway.
