The ‘Drop Light’ is all about changing the light intensity in an interesting and simple way. Each bulb, containing a new advance LED, could be separated from the main body easily. Integrated with a base, these bulbs could also serve as a free standing lamp individually. All the lighting modules are charged via an electric line located within the main body. Designed by Jordi Canudas, Less Lamp is quite unique: firstly, what you buy home is actually a sealed lampshade; secondly, no light will be released until you crack it with a specially designed hammer. [Read the rest of this entry...]

I cannot think of a rational reason why I love these squeezable LED lights, but I just know clearly I do. Diana Lin’s d°light Bubbles are silicone LED lights that give out a ‘whoo’ sound when you squeeze them. Apart from decorating your stylish room, these lights also seem like a better way for you to spend a tiresome evening. Just squeeze, squeeze and squeeze! [Read the rest of this entry...]

From Lifegoods Design, the dubbed ‘at-at walker’ is a wooden drawer with a built-in light dimmer. It appears to be absolutely nothing particular when the drawer is in ‘off’ mode. But the moment you pull out the drawer, bright light will then come out of that and illuminate your room. Claimed by Lifegoods Design, “The lamp is like a science fiction object but characterized by the warmth and the preciousness of the woodwork.”
The project is on show at imm cologne 2010. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Martin Neuhaus has just come up with ‘Becherlicht’ , a floor lamp that also doubles as a wall ornament. Different from other lamps, ‘Becherlicht’ features a bulb outside of the lampshade, and therefore creates a three-dimensional shadow onto the wall when turned on. Just as you can see from the pictures, it is the colorful shadows of the lampshade that makes the wall look beautiful. Another simple but impressive product. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Hey, watch out! That soap is not for washing your hands, but for decorating your rooms. It is a portable Soap Light, coming with a charger base disguised as a soap dish. When you’re furnishing a home, light is the most concerned issue—neither too bright nor to dark, what you actually need is a dimmer switch lamp, a handy electrical component that lets you adjust the light levels so that you always feel comfortable. In this article, we’ll show you a new lamp that is shaped like a Chinese Scroll Painting. As it turns out, this lamp works in a totally unexpected way: it goes brighter when you pull its bottom down and turns darker as you roll it up. Well, possibly you will find the lamp more interesting and impressive if you paint something on it. Just imagine that.

There’re seldom lamps drawing all the people, but I bet your lamp has that potential if you’re using the ‘Eclipse Light’ by Ronen Kadushin. It is a simple lamp made from a single flat piece of steel, which reflects light when turned on. We’ve seen a lot of funny lamp concepts, but the Cosmonaut Lamp may be the least elegant one. It’s a lamp with a bulb on its head and looks like an astronaut ready to land on space. The wildest part about the lamp is that it uses fewer wires but mainly polymer clay instead. And inspired by the Cosmonaut Lamp, the designers may come up with more clay lamps that are shaped like a puppy, an E.T. or something else. [Read the rest of this entry...]

What is the best time for bookworms? It must be those cozy nights spent with their favorite books, in the company of their favorite lamps. Who will leave those ugly spiral-shaped energy-saving lamps directly in the air since they have had a hard time designing and fixing their houses? At least I won’t. But after you see the Pigtail Lamp showed here, you may change that opinion and would love to get some home. The designer tactfully associated the ESL’s spiral shape with the pigtail, and finally came up with these lovely lamps. It’s really attractive.

The only association between light and switch is that we use the switch to turn on/off the light. That’s totally right but Sungi Kim also believes that the switch itself could doubles a light. And that’s the main concept behind the innovative design ‘Push on the light’. It looks just like a simple switch for most of the time, but it will then work as a light when you push on the short end of it. Amazing! [Read the rest of this entry...]
