The world’s first cloud-based LED lighting system was recently launched by Japan-based Net LED Technology Company. It’s called NetLED system, composed of LED tube with built-in Wi-Fi as well as a free NetLed app. After installing the NetLed app on your smartphone, tablets or other devices and replaced your lights with the NetLED tubes, you can then control individual, multiple, or a set of lights via the app: to dim the lights (each tube has 10 different dimming levels), to turn them on or off, or to track energy usage in real-time. Net LED says that when a company, for instance, installs 200 of these lights, its power consumption can be reduced down by up to 50%.

Named as Hang Book, the new lamp not only offers enough light to ensure you a comfortable reading, but would hold your book in the air when you fall asleep. Also known as “Geometric Romance”, the lamp from Tommaso Gecchelin aims to bring you back to the romantic summer nights when the fireflies were flying around you. Yaps, romance. That’s the most important point you may find with the lamp, and another feature the device has is high tech. You think I might be mistaken, right? Because the trees do not need any decorative leaves at all, they have an inborn ability to grow leaves. From Lifegoods Design, the dubbed ‘at-at walker’ is a wooden drawer with a built-in light dimmer. It appears to be absolutely nothing particular when the drawer is in ‘off’ mode. Martin Neuhaus has just come up with ‘Becherlicht’ , a floor lamp that also doubles as a wall ornament. Different from other lamps, ‘Becherlicht’ features a bulb outside of the lampshade, and therefore creates a three-dimensional shadow onto the wall when turned on. Just as you can see from the pictures, it is the colorful shadows of the lampshade that makes the wall look beautiful. Another simple but impressive product.

Hey, watch out! That soap is not for washing your hands, but for decorating your rooms. It is a portable Soap Light, coming with a charger base disguised as a soap dish. We’ve seen a lot of funny lamp concepts, but the Cosmonaut Lamp may be the least elegant one. It’s a lamp with a bulb on its head and looks like an astronaut ready to land on space. The wildest part about the lamp is that it uses fewer wires but mainly polymer clay instead. And inspired by the Cosmonaut Lamp, the designers may come up with more clay lamps that are shaped like a puppy, an E.T. or something else.

Who will leave those ugly spiral-shaped energy-saving lamps directly in the air since they have had a hard time designing and fixing their houses? At least I won’t. But after you see the Pigtail Lamp showed here, you may change that opinion and would love to get some home. The designer tactfully associated the ESL’s spiral shape with the pigtail, and finally came up with these lovely lamps. It’s really attractive.

The only association between light and switch is that we use the switch to turn on/off the light. That’s totally right but Sungi Kim also believes that the switch itself could doubles a light. And that’s the main concept behind the innovative design ‘Push on the light’. It looks just like a simple switch for most of the time, but it will then work as a light when you push on the short end of it. Amazing!

Let there be no misunderstanding, so I would like to make a clarification first that these tea bags are not ordinary tea bags for making tea but actually an interesting sort of lamps. Rice is a basic foodstuff for hundreds of millions people all around the world, especially the Asians. And during the dinning time, you’ll always find them hold a bowl of rice in their hands. For the Asians, a bowl of rice is not merely foodstuff to keep them alive but also a symbol of fulfillment that encourages them to work harder and harder.

Possibly inspired by that, Lo, Yu-Fen has designed the ‘Harvest’ light for Yii Collection. Shaped like a porcelain bowl with delicate patterns on its surface and tiny bits of light inside it, the decorative light is surely to bring a great change to your home. Since some lights like the floor lamps, chandeliers are designed in a big size with an intense and bright light, while others are designed to be small dots or power indicators with weak and limited light, there must have been certain reasons. So why, you may ask, is the item here designed for? Actually, I don’t know why, either. Conceived by the designer Kyung Kuk Kim, Wind Lamp is built with LEDs and powered by a specialized wind-harnessing generator that also powers other street lamps. I must say, it’s really a good piece of work, which beautifies the river and the city in an eco-friendly way.

Have something to say? Just as what you possibly have though of, it is a magnet system that works to control the switch, which is the smaller ball shown on the pictures. When the light ‘Fiat Lux’ is on, the switch will levitate beneath the lamp. And you can turn the light off by stocking the switch onto the bigger ball.
