Yes, the New York City is no more that safe as it may used to be, and thus the NYPD is looking for newer and better methods to make the city much safer, and one of their solutions is this Mobile Scanner that allows the police to spot armed passerby on the street without ever having to get out of a police van. The device is something like the full body scans used in airports, while it is much compacter and portable, also with a wide range of three to four feet. And in the future, the device may be produced with a range of up to 80 feet, which means that it can reach people on the other side of the street easily. So will this make New York safer? Let the time to tell us the answer.

I always thought of slingshot as a toy especially created for naughty boys, as we often saw young boys sending stones or balls onto girls. But the SMS Slingshot designed by Berlin based VR/URBAN has changed my opinion. It is a handheld digital slingshot device that can send color splashes and text messages onto public screens. There’s a mobile built in the wooden device to store messages and a laser to blast those contents onto nearby screens via a projector. ‘Mobile Radar’ from Nokia

Researchers at Nokia Research Center unveiled the ‘Mobile Radar’ during “Demo House 2010″. Using the same technology adopted by the police to give you a ticket for speeding, the device could measure an object’s distance, speed and direction. Therefore, you can control your cellphone via simple gestures without touching it.
