How thin do you think the package of a daily disposable contact lens could be? In my opinion, the “Magic” from Japan’s first and largest contact lens and care product manufacturer Menicon is rightly the answer we’re looking for.

Created with Menicon’s proprietary technology, the Magic measures merely 12.5% of the thickness and 40% of the volume of a conventional pack used to store contact lenses. That’s really astonishing, as you can simply put your contact lens in wallet or card packs to take it around. Besides, its unique design also promises a safe wearing: the Magic always exposes the outer surface of the lens first, thus to reduce the likelihood of touching the inner surface and therefore to prevent bacteria getting close to the comea.

The sexiest buns we’ve ever seen come from bread manufacturer Kohberg, who released pink-colored and bra-patterned package bags for their rye bread buns.  It’s… pretty amazing. But what’s more amazing is that the Kohberg has announced to give part of the revenues earned by selling the sexy buns to The Danish Cancer Society, to support the medical research of breast cancer.

It is all the coffee: someone chooses to boil a pot of coffee, someone prefers to instant coffee, and someone may get fond of the AeroShot Pure Energy that delivers caffeine powder directly into your mouth. The AeroShot is packaged within a lipstick-sized cylindrical device but offers about 100 mg of caffeine, which is about the same amount of caffeine found in one large cup of coffee. Without calories or coffee breath, the AeroShot is aiming to provide people with an instant and healthy way to enjoy coffee. It may seem bit of weird, but still impressive and attractive.

You know, design is sometimes so simple. The innovation of this water bottle merely lies in the neck that has been shifted from the top to a 45-degree angle. But the result turns out to be amazing: firstly, it’s more convenient to refill your bottle from a water cooler; secondly, it allows the users to drink in a more comfortable pose, no longer requiring them to have their faces pointed skyward. So how do you like it? The idea is really fantastic, in my opinion.

Cheese Pencils are interesting packaging design for The Deli Garage’s cheeses. Also come along with them is a grater shaped like a pencil sharpener. As a result, you could easily have the cheese sprinkled onto the dish with the sharpener.

At the beginning of this year, Coca Cola and Daft Punk have collaborated to issue a limited edition of bottles that have ever made many people gone crazy for a while. Now, only several months later, they built a second collaboration to launch merely 20 sets of bottles all over the world. Each set includes two bottles, which separately features 925 silver and 18k gold logo branding. It’s now available for sale at daftcoke.com, so just go and check it out if you’re interested.

Along with the improvement of many designs, it is really hard for people to put forward better and cleverer products, but happily Ju-yeon Kim, Jin-beom Kim and Jin-seung Lee have managed to offer us a new package design that promises a more convenient use. It is the EZ Opener, a redesign of the can opener that features an extra handle for people to pull. Undoubtedly the EZ Opener would save the users some energy to open a can, but on the other hand it inevitably needs to cost more metal or other materials.

The idea behind this disposable coffee cup is really amazing: use as few materials as we can to make a cup and enjoy as much fun as we could to take the coffee. Collaborated by Young-an Seok, Young-woo Choi and Se-ryung Nam, Coffree is a foldable disposable cup that has coffee mix sealed inside. So simply tear the seal off, fold up the package, pour in some water and your coffee is then ready. Great!

The problem that canned instant noodle still takes up too much space has for a long time bothered both the consumers and designers, until Liu Yi, Jiang Yuning and Luo Jing have collaborated with the Accordion Package.

The new container for noodle can be compressed into a small size for storage while extends into a bigger one for use. And there’s more: its accordion-like surface also decreases the contact points and therefore prevents your hands from burning.

While most designer are busy adding shadows, backgrounds, frames, colors and other elements onto a logo, Antrepo heads on in just the opposite direction. In a recent experiment with logo designs, the Antrepo deleted images and colors from labels and eventually left them a simple look. As a result, Nutella, Red Bull, Nesquick, Durex and many other logos seem totally different on the pictures. So what do you prefer, the old ones or the new ones?

Usually a butter packaging box is used to indicate the flavors of butter and protect butter during transportation, but now the package can also be used to spread the butter so that you no longer need to carry any additional cutlery. The refreshing green color of the new tea bag always makes us think of one same word: healthy. And it is indeed something that can lead you a more healthy way of enjoying tea. Made from natural green tea leaves, these new packaging bags will change color to indicate how to correctly make a cup of tea.

Words from the Designers:

“Green tea’s main incredient is catechins. It is safe and stable when in between 60 to 70 degrees celsius. However, if it is heated to a higher temperature and brewed longer, another substance called tannin is released. Tannin is easily combined with catechins as well as other essential substances in our body such as calcium and iron. As a result, tannin prevents our body from absorbing those substances. Therefore, the temperature should be checked properly to truly appreciate the taste of green tea. The best way to drink green tea is when the tea bag is removed after letting it steep for 2 minutes at a temperature of 80 to 90 degrees celsius. ‘Real Green Teabag’ is made from natural green tea leaves so that it can decompose easily. The wrapping does not consist of more than one part so that it can be opened as if it is a folded green tea leaf. in other words, no trees need to be cut down in order to make clean white wrapping paper. The product appeals to our emotions by using leftover green tea leaves after brewing tea.”

Ampro Design’s Design Business Bottle may be the world’s first wine bottle that comes with two necks. It is also packaged in two glasses, separately labeled “our business” and “your business”, and those two parts are attached to each other by a yellow ribbon printed with a word “is”. So in the designers’ opinion, “our business is (rightly) your business”, do you agree with that? Anyhow, the concept does have captured “the essence of our business in connection with the client’s business.” I like it.

Different suits make the same person look totally different, and similarly, different packaging designs each gives the same product a new looking. And Debbie Marks believes that one of the best methods to promote the condiments is to dress the bottles up, making them more attractive on the shelves. From top to bottom, the pill grows smaller and smaller in size, but the contents of ingredients in all the pills are kept the same. Believed by the designers, the patients will feel their condition is improving day by day as they take the pills one by one. But do remember to take the medicine in a right order (from bigger pills to smaller ones), or you’ll become quite depressed.

Eat the iPhone!? Am I crazy? Nope, coz the iPhones we’re to eat are not those smart cellphones but delicious chocolate boxed in an iPhone-like package. But remember not to put the chocolates together with your iPhone cellphone, or you’ll probably eat the real one and get your teeth broken…I’m not kidding.

The ‘Clever Little Bag’, a collaborative work between yves behar / fuse project and Puma, was invented as a result of the idea to promote energy efficiency and conservation. The new packaging includes a cardboard sheet and a bag but has no tissue paper, therefore taking up less space and weighing much lighter than usual shoes boxes.

Calendar and tea seem to be unrelated to each other. But Cho Hee Ha doesn’t think so, coz in the designer’s mind the teabags also mark the passing of time just as the changing seasons do. The Calendar Teabags includes a variety of tea packaged as the dates and months, so that you’ll also feel time passing by when you’re enjoying a cup of tea.

No doubt gums have the power to freshen your breath, but have you ever thought what the gums are destroying? Your clothes, computers, chairs, and most importantly the environmen…Yes, we find the chewing gum stick to different items from time to time, but we seldom find a better solution to that. Fortunately, Gonglue Jiang has come up with a practicable design, the “Green Seeds” (I love the name!). It features a dispenser that offers tear-away paper for you to wrap the gum when you’re done. And on the bottom there’s a container, which acts as a temporary dustbin to store the used gums, so that you won’t wadding up gum with your clothes or notepads.

“Same classic taste, but greener”, with that in mind, Andrew Kim has come up with a new series of packaging designs for Coca Cola, the ‘Eco Coke’. Simply judging by the outside, the futuristic Coca Cola is refreshing, smart, ergonomic, cut, and still classic. But what really makes me excited is it’s made of 100% sugar cane byproducts and completely eco-friendly to the environment. Another thing to be mentioned is that the bottles can collapse 66% smaller than its original size, allowing an easier transportation for later recycling.

Proper packaging would help to enhance the reputation of the products, and in most cases, an ideal packaging design means “simple, unique and impressive”. So here we’d like to introduce two elegant packaging designs from Miranda Laskowska. As most designers do, she also believes that proper colors can give more force to the form of a product. So both the designs feature only two colors-black and white.

The first packaging is considered as “a solution for prestigious retail outlets”. Just wrap the clothes up along with the thin cardboard, fasten them using an elastic tape with two chaplets, and done! Isn’t it practical but impressive? Most of all, the two sides of the package can also be used for branding and advertising.

And the other, just as you can see from the picture, is an innovative alternative to ring package. Possibly your diamond ring will look more exquisite when it comes within such a simple but elegant box.

The packaging cardboard also acts as a record player? Though it’s hard to believe, the video after the jump proves that is totally true. It is a hand-operated record player designed to demonstrate the GGRP’s perfect sound engineering capabilities. But why the cardboard could work as a player is mainly attributed to the special structure of the cardboard, which would create certain vibrations, once the needle of the record moves on it. According to the company, the record is supposed to be played at 45 revolutions per minute.

Coca Cola has released a new can for the Burn Energy Drink, which is especially intended for those who can’t drink up a whole tin at a single time. It features a reseal-able top, which could be twisted to open and close the mouth hole.

Though the Two-way Toothpaste is announced to be designed for those who usually “get angry with their partner for squeezing the toothpaste from the front”, what I see from the design is an easier way to completely squeeze out the toothpaste from the tube. With an extra way for the toothpaste, the users could easily get the last bit of toothpaste by squeezed the tube hard towards the two opposite directions.
