Electric Skateboard Driven By Kinect

20120119013

I’m sorry that this awesome electric skateboard driven by a Kinect is not available to everybody. It’s a collaborative work finished by guys from Chaotic Moons Labs. A skateboard is equipped with a Microsoft’s Kinect controlled by a Windows 8 Samsung Tab, and it can reach a maximum speed of 32 mph when on the road. Of course it’s also easy to use: push your hands forward to speed up and do the opposite to slow down. Oh man, how I wish I could ride on the skateboard too…

Individual Articulating Commuter

20100623101

Personal mobility vehicles are widely developed these days, but at present we can only see most of them on the paper. Designed by Phillip Seagram for Honda, the “Individual Articulating Commuter” is another concept that makes us feel exciting. It is a compact vehicle that measures just 4.85 inches in length, making it especially ideal for the crowded city streets. More importantly, the electric vehicle can alter its shape, from vertically upright to horizontally flat as it runs faster and faster. Designed to run on wheels with built-in motors, the “Individual Articulating Commuter” also features a hidden balance wheel for safe driving. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Yo-Yo Single Seat Transportation

20100604201

When automakers are trying to tackle the problem of personal urban mobility, designer James Yarger also puts forward an innovative concept, the “Yo-Yo”. Inspired by the Velib, a public bicycle rental program in Paris, the “Yo-Yo” is a single seat transportation device for urban mobility but also has new characteristics. For example, the “Yo-Yo” makes a use of “Google Earth”, allowing the users to track the transportation system via internet; the new transportation device can be used either individually or connected to other devices, according to your different needs. So in one word, the “Yo-Yo” will no doubt lead public transportation system to a new level in the future. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Martin Jetpack: The World’s First Practical Jetpack

20100318301

Hey, guys, it’s time to wave goodbye to the airplanes which only offers you confined spaces and boring time, since the New Zealand-based Martin Aircraft Co. has provided us a cleverer alternative, the Martin Jetpack. Unveiled at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s 2008 Air Venture held in the US, the personal helicopter is deemed by the Federal Aviation Administration as “an experimental ultra-light airplane”. Moreover, the Martin Jetpack is also considered as the world’s first practical device. Though still called as a ‘jetpack’, the device actually uses a gasoline (premium) engine with two ducted fans to provide lift. Getting needed power from a full fuel tank, it could fly for about 30minutes, with a theoretical speed of 60 miles per hour. Wearing a price tag of $86,000, the first ten jetpacks will be put on the market this year.

Enjoy Skating more with Chariot Wheels!

20100318101

I’m not a man good at maintaining stability, so skating and roller skates are just something I couldn’t handle or control. But maybe those people alike I should try skating again, with the innovative Chariot Skates. It features a big wheel and a smaller wheel, compared to conventional roller skates having two rows of wheels. The bigger wheel enables you to gain and maintain momentum with less effort, and the smaller wheel is intended for a good stability. Not only shaped like a bike (without handles or seat), the Chariot Skates are also driven in the same way as you ride on your bike: simply push the pedals and go! [Read the rest of this entry...]

2009070120

It has been a common dream for boys to attend an auto racing, and now the coolest way to make that happen is to get a go-cart modified from a discarded shopping cart. A student from MIT did make a shopping cart run at a speed of up to 45 miles per hour, by equipping it with batteries and an engine and replacing its wheels. That’s cool! Tread Way Mobility

2009070320

Maybe the ‘Tread Way Mobility’ comes in a way like this. One day, when the designer went to his workplace which was not far away enough for him to take a taxi while really cost certain minutes, he had a flash of intuition —— to create a winglet. Equipped with an engine and a speeder, the ‘Tread Way Mobility’ is controlled by a remote. As it covers 10 miles an hour, such a device would be a nice choice to people who work nearby their houses.
