Have you ever thought that your shoes may have their own thoughts and personalities to express? Whatever answers you would offer, at least in designer Gwen Murphy’s mind, the shoes do have something to tell us: their appearances, their emotions, and possibly their dreams too. But if with such unique shoes wearing on your feet (surely these sculptures cannot be worn), you may feel that somebody is rightly looking up at you from the bottom as well… wow, that’s so weird!

Nothing unique… Honestly that was my opinion to these sculptures created by Sang Sik Hong, until I was told that they’re all made of thousands of drinking straws. Showcased at the Scope Art Fair in Miami, Hong’s work are mainly about human’s desire, power and sex, coming in forms of lips, hands, eyes, faces and so on.

Why and how could there be trees that grow into the amazing shapes as horses?! Honestly that’s what I thought when I met these sculptures, until I know they’re actually constructed with driftwood and oak. So incredible! When creating, Heather Jansch used an underlying steel frame that has been coated in fiberglass, attached wood onto the frame in certain shapes and then colored needed parts of the wood. The hooves are usually made out of bronze or lead, in case that the sculptures may get blown away in windy days. As a result, with great passion and hard work instilled into these art pieces, each sculpture turns out impressively good, seemingly very similar to real-life horses.

Scribbled Line People is collaborative work between Ayaka Ito and Randy Church, who have used applications like Flash and Photoshop to reconfigure images into interwoven portraits. It seems bit of weird, as the artwork isn’t something beautiful or elegant, but it’s truly amazing.

There’s no waste in the designers’ mind, because anything old and unused can find their new life after redesigned by them with full imagination. These three-dimensional sculptures made out of recycled skateboard decks are rightly good examples. Created by Haroshi, each piece features a delicately distinctive pattern and shining bright colors. Who would believe they’re crafted out of layers of stacked wooden decks, if the designer didn’t tell us the truth?

Next month at the FRAC Centre in Orléans, France, there will be a six meter high and 3.5 meter wide tower built by flying robots. It totally needs 1500 polystyrene foam bricks to assemble the structure, and all those materials will be lifted and transported by the mobile robots. The installation will be open to the visitors from 2 December 2011 to 19 February 2012.

The greatest thrill you ever get is going on the roller coaster? Of course it is, but next time you can experience another exciting roller coaster that is actually without a roller coaster but some stairs instead! Built in German, the Crouching Tiger and Turtle is a work by sculptors Ulrich Genth and Heike Mutter, allowing people to ascend a height to enjoy a distant view by walking up the roller coaster, which is not the most exciting roller coaster but apparently the safest one.

Almost in every part of the world we can find creativity, which now exists in Finland too. There in that country, Miina Akkijyrkka shapes some huge cows using old vehicles. By arranging different parts of cars to become sections of the cows, the artists cleverly created unique metal cows featuring a lovely appearance.

Let us enjoy the beautiful scenery of Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal and American cities now, with these fantastic paper sculptures created by Christina Lihan. Each piece is hand assembled in detailed layers, being rather rich with the layer and a stereoscopic feeling. To finish these sculptures, about up to 300lb of coldpress watercolor paper was used, which indicates the designer’s really hard work. But obviously Christina Lihan’s efforts have not been wasted, coz all the sculptures seem so great. Well done.

Time again new value is found with old things. With his creative design and good work, Edouard Martinet sculptures several metal animals using waste materials such as automotive engines, typewriter keys, car lights and so on. Quite surprisingly all the sculptures are created by fitting each component into place instead of using solder, while the results still turn out to be firm and solid.

Totally beyond imagination… With subtle design and delicate carving, Wim Delvoye has transformed unused tires into amazing sculptures. In his series “Pneu” (French for tire), each piece comes with a unique pattern and they all look so great.

Origami is charming. You see, any common paper can find its values when transformed into a origami sculpture. Almost all the sculptures here are carefully folded from a single uncut square sheet of paper, visually represent animals, plants and fictional characters.

On the Goodwood Festival of Speed held in Sussex, UK many visitors were firstly amazed by Gerry Judah’s 28-meter-high Jaguar E-Type sculpture rather than real cars shown there. The steel sculpture is mainly about a Jaguar E-Type car balancing on its front bumper, and it is made of half a kilometer of steel tubes that have a diameter of 1.2 meters.

Time again we have to remind you that even what you see with your own eyes may not be the same as it looks because your eyes would deceive you. So with these items shown here, you’ll firstly need to cut them apart and then to make sure what they are. Wow, in fact they’re all wood, or more exactly wood sculptures! Surprise?

With his deep love and passion towards his hometown San Francisco, artist Scott Weaver has spent 35 years assembling this mini structure using about 100000 toothpicks. Specially, he also built a “visiting line” which can let a ball roll throughout the entire city. Superb!

Guess what, the Empire State, the White House, Eiffel Tower and other well-known architectures you see here are actually mini-sized sculptures constructed with toothpicks and all the toothpicks are combined together with only glue. Most incredibly, Steven Backman’s tiny work of the Eiffel Tower is made from just one toothpick and some other sculptures of his measure even less than a third of toothpicks in length. So amazing!

Long-Bin Chen’s Reading Sculptures prove that incredible art can be made with almost everything, even with discarded items. With his rich imagination and outstanding skills, the artist has transformed old telephone directories, old books and other printed material into sculptures shaped like human heads and figures.

Please do not search for any on-line news about recent shipwrecks before you finish with the article, because you’ll soon find this seemingly sunken ship is actually a leisure boat specially designed by Julien Berthier. It is made up of a 21-inch sailboat while looks much cooler than that. Dubbed “Love Love”, the Sinking Boat is “the permanent and mobile image of a wrecked ship that has become a functional and safe leisure object”, just as Julien Berthier has ever described.

Many designers nowadays prefer to create something with paper, such as Cheong-ah Hwang and his Paper Sculpture Series. The usually soft paper seems to have regained new energy after the designer’s work and each of the sculptures tells us a fancy story with vivid and impressive images. So how do you like them?

What’s the coolest way of redesigning ordinary paper pieces? Well if you could cut them into delicate 3D sculptures and make them attract every viewer, then you’re definitely successful. At least as successful as Elsa Mora. Using a knife and some special wooden tools, the genius designer has created several amazing paper sculptures, which in Elsa’s opinion “couldn’t be more perfect”. Italian artist Franco Recchia is a man with great curiosity. When taking apart old computers, he suddenly realized that it may be interesting to make some sculptures with their component parts and thus these mixed-media sculptures were brought to us. Each featuring rich details and clean lines, these sculptures here present a new look of Central Park, Manhattan, Boston and Pittsburgh and they’re all full of imagination and creativity. Connecticut-based artist Dalton Ghetti must have great skill in sharpening a pencil, as he has hand-carved these awesome sculptures using razor blades, sewing needles, sculpting knives and rich imagination. Of course these mini pencil sculptures have also cost Dalton Ghetti much time and energy, for example, he has spent over two years on only the heart sculpture.

Who would figure out that these amazing white sculptures are made of paper rather than plaster, if they hadn’t seen them before? Though sounds incredible, they’re really paper sculptures created by Allen and Patty Eckman and each of them comes into being through at least three working procedures.

Follow the artists to make your own paper sculptures.

·Step 1: Cast paper pulp into clay molds.

·Step 2: Remove the water from the paper pulp using vacuum pressure.

·Step 3: Take the semi-finished sculptures out of the molds and complete the details.

We’d like to call the pixel orca sculpture “the most memorable orca (or sculpture)”, not  because of its huge size and unique design, but because it’s the first orca or sculpture that makes us feel dizzy. Even so, we still believe that the Pixel Orca Sculpture will give a new look to the Vancouver convention center.

See what happens when the designers turn the common movement of pouring water into a piece of art, the result is quite incredible and of course amazing!

The sculpture ‘Pouring Jug’, measuring 320cm x 300cm x 410cm in size, is a gigantic bronze vessel from which black crystals are poured out. It is made from polished bronze, created by Dutch-Belgian Studio Job.

It is BMW Z4. You’re totally right. But have you noticed something different the BMW car has compared with others? Oh my god, it’s indeed made out of stone but still features transparent glass windows! So we bet it must be the world’s heaviest BMW.

Surely you still remember Theo Jansen and his Strandbeest, right? Here is another kinetic sculpture from the talented Dutch artist: a wind-powered walking sculpture that resembles an animal. In the video below, you’ll see how the huge creature lives and walks on the beaches.

Canadian-born sculptor Cal Lane has long been in deep love with art, and her devotion to sculpturing finally led to the creative project: lace transformed from old farm tools. Using her metalworking and welding skills, Cal Lane has changed ordinary oil tanks, drums, cars, and other tools into luxurious lace, just as you can see from the pictures. That’s really amazing!

Robert Cannon comes out with a new series of sculptures, something that cleverly present the connection between art and the nature. Apart from home decorations, these creative sculptures also work as garden pots, growing moss on them.

Hopefully you didn’t take it as a photoshoped picture, because the huge piece of handkerchief was for real found on a private art park “The Farm” located in New Zealand. According to the park’s owner Alan Gibbs, the astonishing handkerchief—though looks coming from the Cartoon World —is actually a unique sculpture made of welded steel by Neil Dawson. Impressive work!

This magic fluid sculpture is made of nifty knitter, some surgical tubing, a small liquid pump. You can just push in the water with colorful ink and then it will offer you a magic picture.

At first glance, this is merely a seeder sculpture. However, at night, the light will project the shadow on the wall and then it is completed.
