“Descender”, announced as “the very first of its kind”, is an innovative piece of sport equipment that’s really hard to define: it’s not a regular sled or a skateboard, but seems quite like a small tank, as all its wheels are wrapped by treads. That unique design not only ensures a maximum traction and power, but allows the Descender to be used in almost every season and all terrain hills.
I’m sorry that this awesome electric skateboard driven by a Kinect is not available to everybody. It’s a collaborative work finished by guys from Chaotic Moons Labs. A skateboard is equipped with a Microsoft’s Kinect controlled by a Windows 8 Samsung Tab, and it can reach a maximum speed of 32 mph when on the road. Of course it’s also easy to use: push your hands forward to speed up and do the opposite to slow down. Oh man, how I wish I could ride on the skateboard too…
There’s no waste in the designers’ mind, because anything old and unused can find their new life after redesigned by them with full imagination. These three-dimensional sculptures made out of recycled skateboard decks are rightly good examples. Created by Haroshi, each piece features a delicately distinctive pattern and shining bright colors. Who would believe they’re crafted out of layers of stacked wooden decks, if the designer didn’t tell us the truth?
Not everybody loves skateboard but everyone would love the PAS House designed by Gil Le Bon Delapointe and Francois Perrin. It is a perfect house with every space and furniture skateable: the ground becomes the wall, the continuous ceiling forms a tube of a 10ft diameter, and most furniture is integrated in the curve to become part of the skateable house.
