Flexible Waste Basket

20100910101

We humans are really clever: we put our foot into the waste basket to compress the discarded paper, so as to make room for trash. But apparently the designers are much clever, as they’ve collaborated with a flexible waste bin that allows the users to make room for trash much more quickly and neatly. When the basket is almost full of paper, you simply need to get its mouth together and compress the trash, and you’ll find more room is made once you release its mouth to let the bin will then go back to its original shape. Fantastic!

Dubbed Push Up, the flexible waste bin is an iF Concept Design 2010 winner. [Read the rest of this entry...]

My Tables Can Fold Into The Wall.

20100721201

Tables are needed furniture but they’re usually also bulky, so you have to dedicate quite a large amount of space to them. And that’s why tables and especially the long tables are often tough to fit in small apartments. Except these tables created by Ochre. The designers solved that problem by folding the tables into the wall when they’re not in use, therefore offering you a spacious room for other activities. When you want a table, just pull them out of the wall and you can use them as a dining table or a work bench. [Read the rest of this entry...]

ONEYBIKE Concept

20100524201

Has the ONEYBIKE designed by Peter Varga put you in mind of the old days when people were riding a high wheeler or a recumbent bike? Coming as a perfect combination of those two classical bikes in the past, the ONEYBIKE has become an important window for people nowadays to learn about the history. And of course ONEYBIKE still features some modern designs, like the folding mechanism that allows for easy storage. [Read the rest of this entry...]

“Pop-Up” For Public Spaces

20100522301

The future of furniture has arrived! Thanks to the two Dutch designers Carmela Bogman and Rogier Martens, we could still have a bench, a stage and a lounge area even in a small park. Let’s introduce “Pop-Up”, whose name might derive from the motion of pumping out during the periods of need. The furniture is made out of three retractable bollards, which can be fixed at various heights, forming a bench or a table to meet the users’ different needs. Several keys are distributed among the neighborhood for the local residents to get an access to the pumping system. The first pop-up installation can be found in the city of Utrect, Netherlands. Protect The Earth and Choose Eco Coke!

20100329301

“Same classic taste, but greener”, with that in mind, Andrew Kim has come up with a new series of packaging designs for Coca Cola, the ‘Eco Coke’. Simply judging by the outside, the futuristic Coca Cola is refreshing, smart, ergonomic, cut, and still classic. But what really makes me excited is it’s made of 100% sugar cane byproducts and completely eco-friendly to the environment. Another thing to be mentioned is that the bottles can collapse 66% smaller than its original size, allowing an easier transportation for later recycling. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Piano Table

20100303901

In my humble opinion, the design seems like a terrible idea, resulting needless complexity since the piano may get wet if you carelessly pour water on the table… Of course, you won’t agree with me, if you’re just in the necessity to place a bulky piano inside your small department. So consider it for a second, the idea of the Piano Table seems quite valuable. So you like it? For $6000, you still like it? OMG! [Read the rest of this entry...]

Electric Bike Concept

20100302501

Look! This new electric bike seems like a slab. It generates the power from a Lithium-ion Battery, which is always used by electric cars, to make the bike work much longer. When driven by electricity, the bike sets both of the pedals at the low position, which is a suitable position for riders. Moreover, it holds a compartment for the rider to store his/her portable gadgets, such as laptop, cellphone, iPod and more. The most interesting point is that, when connected to your laptop (stored in the compartment), the bike would access to the internet and show you the route through the integrated upfront screen. Aimed at small apartments and other living areas where full-size furniture is not welcome, the Brain Cube is created by Svilen Gamolov as a clever alternative. It includes several chairs designed in various shapes, which can be stacked up into a huge cube when not in use, thus not taking up too much space. Also due to their particular forms, these chairs could also be used as tables when needed. [Read the rest of this entry...]
