We’re used to walking in cities every day, but have you ever realized that each step you make can produce electricity? The Pavegen Tiles are especially designed for streets, schools, squares that are full of people. The technology can convert the kinetic energy of your steps into electricity and then use it in a variety of applications, such as to power street lamps up, to keep advertisement lamp boxes on, etc. Currently the Pavegen Tiles have been built in some schools, and we hope it would soon appear in many other places of our cities.

Coming with a poetic name ‘Flow’, the bamboo lamps are created as a result of the intention to realize the road illumination on Colombian seaside, where the electric network cannot be channeled. The lamp works on the principle of a vertical wind turbine, and therefore features bamboo blades shaped like a spiral to ‘catch’ the wind in different directions. Apart from that, the ends of the blades are also cut to raise the utilization rate of wind.

Not that Sungi Kim and Hozin Song are much cleverer than us, but that they’ve noticed something we didn’t pay attention to. It is the wind energy generated as vehicles pass by. And the ‘Road Lights’ is a system designed to capture the wind energy, which is expected to power a series of lights to illuminate 50-100metres in front of the cars. Good work!

Welcome to Seoul and take a walk on the bridge installed with Wind Lamps. Conceived by the designer Kyung Kuk Kim, Wind Lamp is built with LEDs and powered by a specialized wind-harnessing generator that also powers other street lamps. I must say, it’s really a good piece of work, which beautifies the river and the city in an eco-friendly way.

A lamppost powered by trash? Well, I have to say that it’s really a considerable progress in developing natural energy-powered and environment-friendly lamps. Doubling as a trash bin, the lamppost then uses the methane, a byproduct of trash, as a fuel to power the lamps. Really ingenious idea!

OMG, it’s actually a traffic light! That’s really a brilliant idea but hopefully birds wouldn’t take them for their cages. More than that, the cage-like traffic light is both green and cost-effective as it is powered by the Solar Panel on top of the unit. No wonder it’s deemed as an “always green traffic light”. Perfect!

If you never thought that street construction lamp could be cute, think again. The Light-Boy lamp from Japan is just one such case that mixes a street light with a cartoon boy on top. When it’s working, the boy seems to be bowing to those hard-working constructional forces and reminding the pedestrians of the night construction ahead.

No, not that invisible. But you really cannot recoganize the existing of these lights. They are shaped like normal leaves and powered by solar, accordingly in the daytime, when the light is turned down, you will not realize these them.

In order to attract travelers and give them a surprising experience, this light, located in Osaka allows you to control the color via a small-scale model.

When someone touched the 1/100th scale model, the hand motion was reproduced in colorful hues.
