The simple concept behind the Smiling Switches collaborated by Zhou Yide, Euphe Mo, Hang Zhou & Christine Liu has really impressed me a lot. For quite a long time, I’ve been wondering what I should or could do to make the earth a happy planet, and until these days I noticed that simply little tasks will result into great changes of the world we’re living in. So from now on, we’ll always see the earth smile whenever we turn off the lights.

Will you conserve more electricity if the light is as precious as time? Combining the hourglass concept with lights for public places like staircases, Jia Wen Chen and Wei-Ting Chen have collaborated with the Flat Light that will time your lights. Once the LED grains all reach the bottom, the lights will then go off and the time limit is merely about 30 seconds. So our conclusion is, cherish your time and treasure electricity resource.

Kids are frequently blamed for leaving lights on, but to be fair, it is because they seldom notice lamps and switches. The Tio Light Switch may be a nice gadget to remind kids of conserving energy, with a visual change in different colors. When the light is kept on for less than an hour, it grows green; after four hours, it goes yellow. And when it has been on for more than eight hours, guess what, an angry red then appears. Hopefully by this means, your kids will constantly turn lights off, therefore helping to cut down the power consumption.
