Chemistry and art are two separate words that seemingly would never have any connections, but designer Pani Jurek’s “Maria S.C. Lamp” has now brought them together. Looking like a crystal chandelier, the lamp is actually made from chemistry test tubes placed into circular plywood bands. It seems completely nice when without anything in the tubes, but the result becomes more amazing when each tube is filled with colored liquid or inserted with flowers.

Wheelchair users, although with the aid of others, may usually get bothered by the difficulty of getting on and off a car when they need to go on a travel. So why not just change their wheelchairs into an electrical vehicle so as to solve the problem? With that in mind, some designers have created the WHILL, a device that can clamp onto the wheels of an existing manual wheelchair and to power it with electricity. Each circular “hub” contains a 24-volt motor, powered by a lithium-ion battery pack. The battery reportedly takes two hours to charge, offering a range of approximately 30 kilometers with a speed that may get up to 20 km/h. When needing to change the directions or adjust the speed, the users can easily accomplish those tasks via an operation of the curved control section that connects two “hubs”.

To solve that problem, Hyuk-Jae Chang puts forward the Ville Urban Folding Bicycle Concept. The vehicle, though named as a bike, can also be transformed into a shopping cart via simple folding. Taking the zero-emission vehicles to a new level, more and more automakers are developing vehicles that are powered by pedals, and one of the latest designs is the Human Powered Vehicle by Todd Dawson. It’s a double-duty vehicle, functioning as both a community car and a tradesman’s vehicle, and you can easily shift the vehicle between those two forms by moving and folding the seats in the back. The transformable seats also enable the vehicle to be used in different variants, ranging from a four person vehicle to a single person vehicle.

“Duplex” is a modular workspace designed by Sophie Kirkpatrik and its main features include an adjustable hood and three legs. The adjustable hood allows you to change the “Duplex” into different shapes according to your varied needs: you can mount the hood to create a private space or lower it down to extend the workspace. And the “three legs”, one less than that of common tables, gives the furniture a unique looking, making it quite eye-catching in any given situations.
