As the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games are soon to begin, the London government is now busying with many projects to make the city good enough to welcome guests from all over the world. One of those projects is the LCD smart recycling bins built in London’s streets and public spaces. Each recycling bin features a couple of LCD screens on either side, which will display the latest news from 6 am to the mid-night every day. The bins are fitted with Wi-Fi too, so that they can offer a better and wider connectivity. Since these bins are nearly the most high-tech recycling bins we’ve ever met, each of them will cost about £30,000 to build.

Dustpan, trashcan and broom are three necessary things for household cleaning. For quite a long time, they’re designed and used separately, until Brendan Ravenhill’s dustbin that integrated them together. In this design, the dustpan also serves as the lid of a trashcan, subtly attaches onto the top of the trashcan and moves for you to use.  The beech wood brush can hang on side of the bin with embedded rare earth magnets, thus making it easy and clean for storage.

It is a clever combination of an electric appliance with a vacuum cleaner, which would suck all the dust in when you sweep it to the bottom of the device and turn it on. So how do you like it? Waste Folder is a recyclable bin that you can take everywhere, as it usually keeps in a compact size as that of a notebook. But simply unfold it and then you can get a six-compartment garbage suited for any situations.

We humans are really clever: we put our foot into the waste basket to compress the discarded paper, so as to make room for trash. But apparently the designers are much clever, as they’ve collaborated with a flexible waste bin that allows the users to make room for trash much more quickly and neatly. When the basket is almost full of paper, you simply need to get its mouth together and compress the trash, and you’ll find more room is made once you release its mouth to let the bin will then go back to its original shape. Fantastic!

Well, almost nothing new but still quite impressive. Here’s how the deal works: you have different kinds of trash, including paper, apple cores, plastic or even beverage. All those will mix together in one dustbin and make the bin look so gross…But with the Basketbin, that wouldn’t happen again. It includes a small water-proof bin for keeping used teabags or other wet items, as well as a larger bin to take paper and recyclable plastic. Charles Seuleusian is quite concerned about the environment and aims to save up energy as possible as he could. His ‘Waste Basket’ is a reusable trash bin made from discarded wooden boards. How to DIY one? Surround a circle base with pieces of wooden boards, put an inflated balloon into the cylinder, fix the mouth with a splint and then done!

Ji-in Byun, Cho Jung Seok and Oh Seul Ki have sent in images of their latest project. They cooperated to create a new kind of trash bin to promote the conventional rubbish can. Specially designed for bench, the trash bin comes with a streamlined base, which could be easily pitched into the sand for stability. That means bins are handy and you can use them more conveniently. Come on, and let us think of the same question in another way, or in an opposite way. To some extent, the cleaner your room is, the more rubbish you’ve put into the trash bin. You don’t think so? Well, then check out the figure shown on the LED that is equipped on the Share//Trash Can, that’s rightly the times you’ve used the trash bin. OMG, how could you believe that we’ve produced so much rubbish?

The design for the trash barrel shows a great deal of originality. Guess what, both the bin itself and the rubbish bags that come along with it are made from wasted paper, therefore reducing the “white pollution”. Better yet, the eco-friendly trash barrel is also designed with multi layers of bags, so that you needn’t have to change the bag every time it is full. Just draw out the full bag, pull out another bag, done!

A lamppost powered by trash? Well, I have to say that it’s really a considerable progress in developing natural energy-powered and environment-friendly lamps. Doubling as a trash bin, the lamppost then uses the methane, a byproduct of trash, as a fuel to power the lamps. Really ingenious idea!

A good design will bring people with more convenience, and the cans used in our daily lives can demonstrate this principle perfectly. Now, designers have prompted a new model for cans. There are at least two distinctions making this model stand out. Firstly, it makes it much easier for you to twist it, therefore sparing much space. Appearing recently in Peking, the so-called ‘3/4 Trash Bin’ is a creative design that features a combination of both fun and color. The idea behind the new design is quite simple, that is, to bring trash bins which are usually hidden behind pillars into our sight. To achieve that, Jian-Feng Lin adopted the same design tactics as that of fans, and therefore the trash bin could be unfolded to an angle of 270. As a result, as you’ve seen in the pictures, a ‘3/4 Trash Bin’ is now here with us.

If you’re someone who likes novelty, you’re sure to love the Mint-pass Rubbish Can by Jongchul Kim. Base on a built-in ultrasonic sensor, the new product could detect the size of trash and open its mouse correspondingly. Still using an infrared sensor, the trash can also allows you to observe its residual capacity simply through the change in color, which turns redder as the bin goes fuller.

This is a brilliant idea. The trash can itself is made from waste paper and so it is eco-friendly. But the attracting point is that this can comes with multiple layer, each of which can be used as garbage bag separately. In other words, in case the bin is full, you can just throw the trash away with the inner layer.

Bin is certainly very dirty; I guess that no one will like garbage. However, if the garbage is stored in a bag like this, someone will like it. It is a brilliant idea. With this kind of patterns, throwing bin bags will begin to be popular.

This trash bin is made from a single metal wire which makes it different from normal bin. Conventional ones can hold the plastic bag with a bucket-shaped body, but this innovative design only comes with a frame. Therefore, no matter how big is the bag, it can fit the trash bin easily.
