Still worrying about the problem that your expensive cellphones may get destroyed when water goes into it? Stop it then, as a company named Liquipel will render our electronic devices completely waterproof with a hydrophobic nano-coating they’ve developed. The coating, actually not visible to human eyes, can protect the entire device as a whole, with all vital components inside and out completely coated to fight against accidental contact with liquids. Though the new technology would allow us to use cellphones and other devices in bathrooms or swimming pools, it may fail to protect your devices in deep sea, however. Thus while giving your devices a protection with this hydrophobic nano-coating, you’ll still need to pay high attention when using them in water.

Selling Price: $59

Hot egg is the most popular food in my family whenever the winter comes, as it not only warms my hands but also warms my stomach. It’s a pity that the eggs cannot keep hot for a long time, and they usually become cold after my way to offices. Thus I need something to reheat them. The ultra-portable Heater Egg Card seems like a good choice. It utilizes a wire-web and thin skin that envelops the egg to reduce heating time; features a collapsible casing that can be folded as thin as a credit card, thus to ensure us an easy carrying; still, it also comes with a USB charging style, which makes it practical in places without an electricity outlet.

However, the researchers are doing that not to set a new Guinness World Record but to make technology serve people better. Put forward by German physicists from University of Stuttgart and the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, the world’s smallest heat engine is only a few micrometers wide, almost the same size of a human hair! That’s really incredible, but you can check out the link below for details if you’re interested in the engine.

Of course there’s still disadvantage of the SOFCs, which is that you have to heat the fuel cells up to 600 degrees to get them to work. But with further development on the SOFCs, we bet they’ll soon come to the market to serve us better.

Researchers from Queen’s University in Kingston have invented a thinnest cellphone we’ve ever met. It looks no thinner than a credit card and features a good flexibility that allows the users to bend it in various ways. Moreover, as you bend it, you’re actually controlling the phone: making a corner to bookmark a page or flipping the corner to get a new page. Really amazing and possibly such “bend gestures” method will be an overwhelming trend of the future too.

Toshiba could hardly wait to show you what the LCD displays would be like in the future, and they exhibited a LCD panel that can zoom in and out of an aerial photograph of Google Earth at the SID 2010. The display, featuring a curvature radius of 50mm when bent, is made of a thin edge-lighting LED backlight unit and stuffed with software that can zoom in and out of images. So in the near future, you may change the size of a displayed image simply by bending the LCD. Or you can experience that in advance via the video below.

Are you dissatisfied with your current wall lamps? Well, what if you could just leave the lamp set into the wall when not using it and switch it on via simple motion? That’s what Kasper Salto and Thomas Sigsgaard have worked out for the Mindcraft 10 exhibition held by Danish Crafts in Milan. Named as “Yellow Fin”, the minimal lamp features two arms and a round head. To turn on the lamp, you need to pull the two arms out of the wall one after another. Its head is adjustable, enabling you to focus the beam in a desired direction.

Moreover, it could be easily cut into various shapes, according to your different needs—attaching them onto your car or even sew them onto your clothes.
Though it’s just an innovative concept from Kim Hyun Joong, Movie Polaroid Camera also presents a good prospect of filming equipments in the future. It is an attractive camera that could print movies on a substrate that mimics traditional Polaroid film paper, using the built-in movie printer. The compact size of the movie films also means an easy transportation, enabling the users to take them everywhere in the wallets or pockets. Though having no power buttons, the Movie Polaroid Camera could be easily charged by giving it some shakes, and that’s also used to juice up the films for viewing.

On seeing the picture, we can easily notice that this light is seemingly a piece of paper, incredibly thin. That’s all because of its special material, an electric paper! Hasn’t it brought you with another kind of visual impact? Just get it if you love it.

This so-called Zumba phone is claimed to be the first fully hands-free mobile phone. It is as small as a credit card and the real phone part is located at the back of the “credit card”. All the functions are controlled by your voice. In addition to this hands-free advantage, it seems that this phone is pretty secure as well. Since all the information is stored on a website called “Zumba Lumba”, even if someone get your phone they will not be able to control it.
