Narciso Vase Series

20120122008

What is the function of a vase? When asking that question again and again, designer Giorgia Zanellato discovered that too many vase designs nowadays focus on the appearances of the vases too much while seldom displaying flowers well enough.  Giorgia wants to change the trend, and thus puts forward the Narciso, a series of vases made in borosilicate glass, powder-coated aluminum and mirrored stainless steel to change a simple flower or stem into a complex kaleidoscope effect. These designs have succeeded, cleverly drawing our attention to the flowers, even without letting us notice the change.

Are there any methods, except for refreshing their appearances or changing their functionalities, which can bring us new unique lamps? Nodded with yes, London designer Roger Arquer has put forward the Touch Lamp Vase that is switched on/off by touching flowers in the adjoining vase. But why could it do that? Plant Necklace

20110208501

Very interesting design— we can offer the plants with sufficient carbon dioxide as we breath, ensure them enough exposure to sunlight as we walk outside, and probably supply some water as we  drink. Aha, just for kidding… But such Plant Necklace can make us value plants and other species more, actually. [Read the rest of this entry...]

“VaseBall” Magnetic Vase

20100305301

What, the flowers decide to give those who often forget to water them a good lesson by hitting on their noses with a ball…? May you believe it or not, that would happen for real if you’re using the “VaseBall” Magnetic Vase. The base of the vase and the top of the base each has magnets, which are mutually exclusive. So when the water in the vase is not enough, the ball-shaped vase will then go up from the ground. According to the designer Min Seok Song, the magnets also act as the “intermediary in communication between human in plant”. It’s time to care your plants more. [Read the rest of this entry...]

‘Hua’ Vase Inspired by Chinese Character

20100210201

Ancient Chinese poems were always endowed with profound meaning or thought. In one famous poem, the poet told us that any beautiful flowers will finally turn into nutrition to support the next generation to bloom. And that’s just where Mike Mak has drawn the inspiration of the innovative vase-’Hua’. When filled with fresh flowers, the vase just indicates the process of blossom. But when the flowers die off, the vase then signifies that they’ve transformed into nutrition for the next blossom season. [Read the rest of this entry...]

I just love the look of these vases. All hand-sculptured from white stoneware clay, the Narwhal Vase, Snail Vase, White Rabbit Vase and the Angel Kitty Vase have been fired twice up to 2232 degrees before they were brought to us. Though each piece functions as a vase, these cute gadgets still doubles as an eye-pleasing sculpture when not filled with flowers. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Driven by the instinct for the beauty, girls love to stick flowers in their hair or hats even until these days. Possibly inspired by that, the designer has brought us these lovely vases that are shaped like a young girl with a hat on. So when you put some roses into the vase, you may feel as if you’re sticking some flowers into your little sisters’ hat. [Read the rest of this entry...]
