No Exercise, No Clean Clothes

You’ll never pick up any clean clothes from washing machines unless you take exercise. That’s what we may have to face when China based electronics company Haier launches its Pedal-Powered Washing Machines in the future. Shown at IFA 2010, the eco machine is really simple but practical: the charging battery will power the machine to wash clothes when a man pedals on the exercise bike. And you don’t have to spare too much time, as basically 20 minutes of work can wash one load of clothes on cold cycle. Since the human-powered washing machine would save your money and keep your figure, will it be taken back to your home?

Swirl is an interesting and functional washing alternative.

Either carrying water from distant areas back to their home or taking heavy laundry to the rivers, housewives in developing countries really need to spend too much time washing the clothes. But that situation may be changed if they are to use the ‘Swirl’. It is a ball-shaped washing device, with a swirled sphere basket and lid inside it. As a result, the users could roll the ball from home to the source of water to get the dirty clothes washed. And when they arrive at the river, they could simply change the water and roll the washing ball back home to have the process of laundry completely done. Sanyo human washing machine

If machines can wash our clothes, why can’t they wash our bodies? Sure, they can. As a matter of fact, Sanyo demonstrated this concept almost 40 years ago. This so-called Ultrasonic Bath can wash your body automatically. The user should climb into the opening on the top of the machine via a ladder. After setting temperature, the pre-rise cycle begins. The ultrasonic bath will spray the user with hot water and the process will last for 5 minutes. Then the pod-shaped will be filled with hot water and offer 3-minute massage bath. At last, a cloud of air bubbles generated by ultrasonic wave generator will take the dirt off the skin. Bingo, you’re clean now. Oh, wait a minute, this machine provide drying service as well.

Wash clothes with only one cup of water

Another water-saving design, but this time we are saving the water of clothes-washing. It is actually a new washing machine from University of Leeds in UK. It is pretty amazing that the water consumption during the washing process is only a single cup of water. The secret behind this is variety of unique plastic chips. When the dirt is dissolved by the heated water, the chips can absorb the dirt from the water and then your clothes are all clean again.

When you need to clean your suit, just put them on clothes hangers and douse with warm water for a few minutes to clean the inside. Repeat the process to clean the outside and drip-dry.
