4N Watch: A perfect combination of digital and mechanical watches

20100312501

The two common kinds of watches separately has their own advantages—digital watches tell us the exact time directly and clearly, while mechanical watches also double as fashionable accessories for success men. So what about combining them two together? Apparently, the result is the 4N watch. It features the quirky disc-based mechanism, which rotates the numbers to deliver the time as the digital watches do. Leaving aside its high-quality material and fine workmanship, simply the limited run of only 16 units has confirmed our speculation that the watch must be quite expensive! Mysterious Double Axis Tourbillon Watch

20100309301

You think the watch is merely an amazing concept? It’s real, coming from Thomas Prescher. All its components have been hidden in the bezel except the tourbillon, which is held in the middle of space by a single metal wire. The rotating cylinders at the top separately indicate the hours and minutes. Positioned between them is a spherical, moon phase calendar. At the bottom is also an interesting calendar—days on the left and months on the right. Integrated with a horizontal swinging oscillating weight based on gravity, the calendar would show you the dates no matter which side of the watch is held up. Also note that there’re two crowns, one for winding and the other for setting the time and calendar. [Read the rest of this entry...]

LED Watch from Tokyoflash: The crazier, the better

20100222201

Tokyoflash is a Japanese watch manufacturer that believes “the crazier, the better”. One of their unique design—’LED Watch’ may help you catch on that slogan better. It is the world’s first Morse Code Watch, featuring three modes for telling the time: Audio speaker sounding out the time in Morse Code, regular time display and Morse Code LED display. Taking the last time display for example, the LEDs will light up for three times to indicate the exact time. For the first time, each stripe on the display stands for ‘an hour’, for the second time, they means ‘ten minutes’, and for the last time, each of the stripe indicates ‘one minute’. So the watch shown in the picture below just tells “10:58″. You think that’s complicated? Surely it is to others, but not to the owners. [Read the rest of this entry...]

You may not like the Chameleon, but you’re sure to love the Chroma Watch designed by Laurinda Spear. Just as you’ve guessed from its name, the Chroma Watch is related to the Chameleon because the watch could change colors too. Geocentric Watch

20100120501

What came to you on the first sight of the watch? It’s an image of the earth revolving around the sun? Yep, just as its name ‘Geocentric’ implies, Geoffrey Cooper’s watch has simulated the revolution of the earth around the sun. It has three rings, and it is the two bigger rings that are in constant motion to display both the hour and the minutes. And what is the red spot on the smallest ring is pointing to is rightly the current time. [Read the rest of this entry...]

What’s time is it? Ask the Liquid Time.

2009112520

Anything is possible, and largely because of that, we couldn’t draw a picture of the future. But we still keep wondering, what the next day will be like, or simply what the next watch will be like? Neither do I know that, but I know exactly how the watch designed by Andy Kurovets looks like. It’s truly neat, elegant and awesome! Consisting of two LED screens, the wristwatch tells time in quite a different way, but it’s also interesting. Well done again, Andy Kurovets! [Read the rest of this entry...]

Embed a watch in the skin

2009071302

Wow, so awesome! Traditionally, you wear a watch, but now you…support a watch. Embedded in your skin, the watch is powered by the biological energy, and that’s why I mean you support a watch. If you’d like to reset the time, you firstly have to connect the watch to other external devices, in a wireless way of course. Moreover, the watch won’t appear unless you flex your wrist. Pity it’s just a concept watch at present. Could anyone develop a real one? Let me know.

Watch? Watch!

2009061303

Could any mechanical watch still be deemed as a “watch” if it has no hands? Of course and just have a look at this watch! The designer hides the hands under the dial plate and hollows out the markers so that the watch can tell time by showing numbers in different colors. Particularly, when the blue hour hand and the red minute hand coincide, the colorless marker will change into charming purple. [Read the rest of this entry...]
