Developed by Cabestan Watches, ‘Sol Invictus’ is the first solar-powered mechanical timepiece around the world. It features the new iconic chain and fusée, drums and vertical tourbillon, and also adopts the silicium crystals as efficient solar cells to generate sufficient power.

Its inner system is rather sophisticated- two brushless motors are used for rewinding the movement and setting the time, as well as a miniature controller for regulating the motors’ speed and amplifying the electrical charge. The motors and the rechargeable lithium-ion batteries are positioned under the solar cells. But wearing a price tag of $560,000, will the timepiece really be that popular? Hmm…It remains to be seen.

The two common kinds of watches separately has their own advantages—digital watches tell us the exact time directly and clearly, while mechanical watches also double as fashionable accessories for success men. So what about combining them two together? Apparently, the result is the 4N watch. It features the quirky disc-based mechanism, which rotates the numbers to deliver the time as the digital watches do. Leaving aside its high-quality material and fine workmanship, simply the limited run of only 16 units has confirmed our speculation that the watch must be quite expensive!

You think the watch is merely an amazing concept? It’s real, coming from Thomas Prescher. All its components have been hidden in the bezel except the tourbillon, which is held in the middle of space by a single metal wire. The rotating cylinders at the top separately indicate the hours and minutes. Positioned between them is a spherical, moon phase calendar. At the bottom is also an interesting calendar—days on the left and months on the right. Integrated with a horizontal swinging oscillating weight based on gravity, the calendar would show you the dates no matter which side of the watch is held up. Also note that there’re two crowns, one for winding and the other for setting the time and calendar.

Tokyoflash is a Japanese watch manufacturer that believes “the crazier, the better”. One of their unique design—’LED Watch’ may help you catch on that slogan better. It is the world’s first Morse Code Watch, featuring three modes for telling the time: Audio speaker sounding out the time in Morse Code, regular time display and Morse Code LED display. Taking the last time display for example, the LEDs will light up for three times to indicate the exact time. For the first time, each stripe on the display stands for ‘an hour’, for the second time, they means ‘ten minutes’, and for the last time, each of the stripe indicates ‘one minute’. So the watch shown in the picture below just tells “10:58″. You think that’s complicated? Surely it is to others, but not to the owners.

What came to you on the first sight of the watch? It’s an image of the earth revolving around the sun? Yep, just as its name ‘Geocentric’ implies, Geoffrey Cooper’s watch has simulated the revolution of the earth around the sun. It has three rings, and it is the two bigger rings that are in constant motion to display both the hour and the minutes. And what is the red spot on the smallest ring is pointing to is rightly the current time.

Anything is possible, and largely because of that, we couldn’t draw a picture of the future. But we still keep wondering, what the next day will be like, or simply what the next watch will be like? Neither do I know that, but I know exactly how the watch designed by Andy Kurovets looks like. It’s truly neat, elegant and awesome! Consisting of two LED screens, the wristwatch tells time in quite a different way, but it’s also interesting. Well done again, Andy Kurovets!

Wow, so awesome! Traditionally, you wear a watch, but now you…support a watch. Embedded in your skin, the watch is powered by the biological energy, and that’s why I mean you support a watch. If you’d like to reset the time, you firstly have to connect the watch to other external devices, in a wireless way of course. Moreover, the watch won’t appear unless you flex your wrist. Pity it’s just a concept watch at present. Could anyone develop a real one? Let me know.

Though time is invisible, the intelligent inventors have already come up with watches to make time visible. But if you want to see clear how time passes, you may need a more accurate watch, like the Tape Watch with an attracting style. Constructed of 3 tape measures, the new watch tells time via its tick marks. Hence you could always know the exact time and use your time more properly.

Almost every single gadget has a digital clock and so the reason for most of us to wear a watch is not just for time. In order to match the demand of the customer, watch maker need to provide more style product. And this caterpillar is a good example.

Rather than traditional mechanical or digital model, this unique design display the time with its own watch band. The watch belt with a series pattern of 1~12 moves like the conveyor belt and you can read the time when a very number is moving into the frame. However, because of lacking minute and second indicator, you won’t get accurate time.

This may be the coolest watch I ever seen. Unlike all other watches in the market, this UR 202 one is driven by compressed air. Since the inner space is airproof, the built-in twin turbines start spinning as long as temperature changed to driven the watch. Moreover, in order to cushion sharp movements and accordingly increases lifespan, there is a 3-position selector switch on the backside of the watch.

In addition, the reading manner are fairly innovative. The three dials accompanied by their own rotating blocks is used to indicate hours and, at the same time, they adjust their length to mark the minutes.
